Not sure if this should be in here or in TV.

But I note that Scotland will be getting their own TV channel soon. Dedicated to Scottish issues.

Why did I instantly think of this?

The SNP will no doubt commission lots of this sort of thing as public service broadcasting. smile

I wonder if Yorkshire will be getting it's own channel as well ? After all more people live there than in Scotland. (5.34m vs 5.3m)

Considering the state of Scotland's public services, the SNP seem surprisingly keen to have the BBC cover them on a daily basis.

The presenters and staff better be ready for lots of intimidation and abuse.

If anyones been to wales and see what they have to put up with.
Every interval it's BBC Wales ( as if you didnt knwo already)
Every local news item - lets see if we can mention Wales in every sentence just in case viewers dont know we're talking about news in wales
More useful if they put a £1 in a swear Wales box each time
Perish the thought about any News from just over the border that people just inside the border might find it useful to know about.
It's even worse if you get Wales by default but actually live in England - the main News ends with 'and now over to News from where you are' - is it 'eck as like.

Eventually.

Come the next round of cuts at the BBC they will propose to 'merge' the two channels into one. SNationalist cultist will have a hairy canary, unable to attack the move because the stated aim of the merger will be to 'further integrate Gaelic into mainstream Scottish culture' - an SNP policy! wink

Personally I think it is a great development as it'll clear the amateurish 'Scottish' crap off the proper BBC channels into a place on the EPG I will know to avoid, and is a deft move by the director-general as it should end for good the undue political pressure the SNP have been putting on the BBC to create a 1-hour Scottish propaganda slot on BBC1.

Viewing figures will of course be dire, and reflect what a pointless 'purely symbolic' fight the whole thing was.
