Went the Day Well - propaganda but done well.

One of our Aircraft is Missing - not a patch on the Archer's epic A Matter of Life and Death but it is black and white at least.

Twelve O'clock High

In Which We Serve - wonderful RP accents. There may be a war on but that's no excuse for a dropped aitch or glottal stop.

Twelve o'clock high is on netflix and I have finally watched all of it. Very good film
can I add the Colditz story. Also has one of the funniest scenes in any film...ever
Also "fires were started" which I saw once.

There's a digital channel which shows nothing but old films. Many of them obscure british films. Worth keeping an eye out on there...

Should have had We Dive at Dawn, good one. Eric Portman at his understated best. Must have been a big star at the time as he even gets top billing ahead of John Mills.

Interesting category question. Perhaps the greatest British film ever made, but it's not entirely black and white.

Also A Canterbury Tale from the same stable.

Great war film even though there's hardly any actual war in it...

I know that channel some good stuff amongst all the pot boilers.
