What's cringe about that? It's a genuine issue. Women in London seem to think brexit was about leaving Europe the continent, like we're actually going to kick them away like a child on a rubber ring. They literally voted based on this idea.

That and the fact that many dates here will also assume you're some sort of closet racist.

Nick Griffiths hasn't helped and neither did Farage with his (in)famous immigrant poster.

Anyway, good luck. If you can navigate through that lot you'll be home and dry.

I guess it's a bit cringe how you describe saying you "destroy the EU with logic and facts" on a date, you make it sound like some kind of political debate!

I have had a friends/girlfriends with vastly different views to mine about many things, it's about concentrating on the aspects of people that you like and both being mature and respectfully disagreeing about ideologies/views you don't!

also - do you really believe that everyone who voted for brexit is inherently stupid?

I have friends who voted for each side of the leave / remain campaigns, just as some are diametrically opposed to my views on the political front. In some cases those friends were more important than having an argument/falling out over the issues, so we just agree to accept that we will not change eachothers minds on the matter and just forget it. In some cases opposing views did lead to a break up of a friendship, but that is just life.

I don't make a point of bringing it up on dates, but sometimes it comes up and i'm happy to debate it. Funnily enough, similar to PH, the left leaning lasses can't seem to debate without getting offended and fired up. Not all of them, in fact a few times politics has turned into comedy. Just depends on the mood etc. I personally am happy to discuss it maturely and make light of it.

Where did I say that about brexit voters? I voted brexit and it was the correct choice. Maybe you meant remain voters, in which case no I don't believe that, I was generalising to suit my story. But I stand by my point that many of them can't differentiate between the EU and Europe.

Rambling amateur psychology

I think women dating are keen to signal certain traits such as kindness, cooperativeness and flexibility to indicate that they will make a good addition to the tribe. Remain at least superficially displays these qualities more than Leave.

Women are also more susceptible to social pressure, and the endless banging of the drum about young, educated, high earners voting Remain and older, less educated and poorer voters was likely to be more influential on single women. Of course they want to be associated with higher status voters.

Logically destroying the EU won't change their minds on this because it was never a logical decision. It is based on deeply embedded mating habits.

The good news is that those traits aren't especially highly valued in males.

Logic and confidence are more highly valued and they're both possible for leavers. Maybe even more likely. Maintaining tribal order and independence are definitely highly valued traits which point towards leave.

You need to revisit the sort of women you are dating. Then be more clear about what you want out of the date. If you want to win political arguments you could save yourself money and ruining your reputation amongst women (arguably too late now) by simply posting on here.

If you want a relationship with someone (short or long) find a different line of conversation and use your undoubted wit and intellect to steer away from dubious topics. These include politics, religion and football/sport. And for God's sake do not talk shoes or handbags unless you REALLY know your stuff. And even then still don't as she'll likely think you're gay smile

Spare a thought for us in London who voted leave. We have to accept that our views are hugely unpopular with the idiotic remain army.
Spare a thought for everyone listening to the insular and blinkered views of Londoners.

I have heard so many idiotic comments coming from friends and colleagues I always thought were fairly intelligent, yet they seem to be caught up in that London bubble and believe the crap they are drip fed from those that 'need' the EU gravy train to run on.

I'm dumbfounded how very little most who voted remain know about the state the EU is in currently, most of the decisions have been based on what we have had so far, which let's face it has been pretty good, but that is all in the past, we are at breaking point, as a business it isn't working, as a business it is bordering on the edge, yet start talking about that to them and they tend to just shrug.

I think 'everyone' has 'their' own reasons to vote how they did, and I genuinely believe that you could dissect anyones reasons and say "...but you didn't consider ............, you thicko!".
Of course there will be people who really shouldn't have voted, but that goes for both sides, some of people my daughter knows through work (22 years old lives in Greenwich) reasons for remaining are fking cringeworthy, she said she can't believe so many are so thick, and these aren't uneducated youths.

I have cringed just as many times listening to remainers as I have leavers.

Firstly OP you and Lammy are in cloud cuckoo land and the above post is spot on.

I've worked in London for 25 years and lived here during the 90's, now I commute from the countryside. I am currently sat in Victoria about half a mile from the awful events in Westminster and it saddens me to hear the anti London talk but I too have a love / hate relationship with it at times so I do understand some of it.

Anyone who really lives in London and would rather it stopped being part of U.K. to be part of the E.U. is just having a hissy fit and lashing out 'Junker' style, seriously grow up and listen to yourself. Soft or hard brexit, love London or not, it will always be our capital city and one which all sides of the debate should be at least a little bit proud.

Well boo fking hoo - who cares? Stop trying to convert everyone you meet even though you got your way regardless!

Maybe find a nice girl that voted remain. 17 million, there must be at least one.

Or move to a part of the country you won't get liberal on you.....I hear they don't make water hot enough to get that st off!

Well it's a bit of a tantrum granted, but not at the leave vote.

I respect that, I know Some leavers don't want to believe that as it seems to remove the smug wind from their sails - but the vast majority of remainers do respect the vote.

There's a very vocal element getting in a tizz I grant you, but I have said elsewhere it is what it is and I would actually be uncomfortable if it was blocked as it would be a subversion of democracy.

But it's not, article 50 is coming, imminently. Full steam ahead Brexit.

Give the people what they want and all that.

My tantrum was basically about, it feels like, for the umpteenth time remind voters are getting lumped in this big melting pot of sore losers - I just think it's odd that the victorious leave camp are still - like Danllama - not happy to get their own way. But need to strut round, not satisfied until they have told every remainer they find they were wrong to hold their opinion.

In my experience ungracious winners are generally bad losers.....and it makes all the protests bout remoaners just seem smug and disingenuous

I mean - did not the sainted Nigel by say a close result (say, 52/48?) would be unfinished business?

I guess it's a combination of hypocrisy and the endless gloating which is grating. It's like remainers are seen as a puppy that need their nose rubbing in a pile of poo.

I'm not even expecting anyone to listen - or acknowledge that I accept the result - it seems to get in the way of the new agenda

Lets agree to disagree. London is hugely diverse with many people of different backgrounds, ethnicities and experiences. Lumping them as one and the same is shortsighted.

Personally I don't feel at home or particularly comfortable outside the city. Going to certain parts of the UK is usually an eye opener...

16.1 million, if it were 17 million we'd still heading into oblivion. Also, some of the remain voters were likely to be male, a bit soft maybe but still male.

Yeah - the softest.

Sorry - typo.
