Do any new cars still come with a 'normal' sunroof?

Or has almost universally-fitted aircon made them obsolete? I'm not talking about any fancy 'panoramic' jobbies, just your common-or-garden variety.

I think the BMW 2 series Coupe can be had with a sunroof still, perhaps the 4 series too.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see how aircon and sunroofs are in any way substitutes for each other. For sure, the aircon won't work properly with the sunroof open but nor will it work properly with the windows open.

OP: maybe this fits the bill http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/21/decano-self-adh...

Ive always found original style sunroofs fairly pointless. Yes they offer a bit more light but they just make a noise when you drive with them open. I do like a large panoramic roof though, loads of extra light.

We call them sunroofs, but in the US they're called moonroofs

I love a good sunroof, my E39 has one and I have it open at any opportunity.

Oddly enough, last summer in Croatia we were hooning around with the pano roof open and the AC on when I thought I'd turn it off as it seemed a bit daft. It was pretty hot anyway so I knew it would feel a bit warmer but thought the roof would compensate. To my genuine surprise it got really hot really quickly and I had to turn the AC back on sharpish so whilst I agree with you in principle, it's surprising how much difference it does make with the roof open, quite effective!

Most of the BMW range still do.

I think on some cars, more so with a low roof line they can massively help increase the "feel" of more space. Equally lighter interior colours can help as well.

I must admit I am glad for my 640d I ended up with a car with a sunroof (about a £1k option), as leaving the cover closed it makes for a very "tight" feel. Opening it does improve the light coming as well as the overall feel.

The major issue for mine really is the black interior as it does make it feel more squished....

Dam trying what is now my car after trying one without, having driven one with and without the difference was huge!

Only "issue" with the 6 series sunroof is they only open at the back and not the full glass sliding option because of the roof line.

Infinity Q50's can be had with an old fashioned hole in the roof too.

Sunroof is a must. My CLK has the glass sunroof and big pillar-less windows. Its like a convertible when everything is open.

Camaro. It's not a cheap option as it means changing out the roof in its entirety (and thereby losing the double bubble, which isn't shame) - mind you this is made up for by the fact you now have a moonroof....crazy yanks.

I like a sunroof. My old E90 had a "normal" sunroof. I've now got an enormous up and over job on a C-Class estate.

As mentioned above, it's not a replacement for air con.
