We've been there already; the Daily Mail of all publications made this front page of their website on day last week. Wonders never cease.

However, it bears repeating.

Also, let's have another: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/mar/26/wo...

To the same people, that'll mean very little. 'Photographer is musli-sympatizer!'.

Sadly, there's none so blind as those who will not see. For the rest of us though, logic prevails.

Connected attack or a bunch of teenage thugs? Probably the latter.

Here, here.

However..... had this been another topic, another thread, another conclusion, then the very posting of a Daily Mail link would have initiated scores of comments against it. Funny old world
"Social" media is anything but and the bane of modern life.

I don't think the police would investigate someone for having a car and saying hello to a terrorist. It would be unusual for someone in the forces to be investigated for terrorism - particularly when they have security clearance to a fairly high level.
Yes, because soldiers could never become terrorist threats could they? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Fort_Hood_shoot...

I was under the impression that having high level security clearance meant that you'd by default already been fairly thoroughly investigated and were on an on-going basis.

Of course they can, but once again, it would be unusual.

Surprising how little attention this got given the timing of it.

It sounded - and this might purely be down to the way it was reported - more like a vehicle accident, rather than a deliberate attack, but I guess who knows for certain?

Hopefully, that's all it was.

What a way to find out. frown

The families of Kurt Cochran, who was killed in the Westminster terror attack, and his wife Melissa, who was badly injured, found out they had been hurt when they recognised them in photographs posted online.

guardian said:
Our daughter-in-law recognised the pictures and called us immediately. We got online and realised that it was our loved ones and that’s how we found out.”

Asked about a photo that emerged of Melissa Cochran lying on the ground after the attack, her mother, Sandra, said: “Well I’m sure you will understand it was heart-wrenching to see this picture of her.”

There isn't a good way to find something like that. I'm an atheist but I do hope that if I'm wrong the losers who do things like this burn in hell.

Baroness Warsi on Andrew Marr yesterday morning.

AM
We have a man here with a history of petty crime and violence, and yet it is not until he turns to Islam that he carries out this atrocity. More and more of these people tend be drawn to Islam rather than say Christianity. Why is that what do they see in Islam ? (or words to that effect)

BW.
There are violent Hindus and even Buddhists would you believe - another 40 seconds or so of waffle without getting anywhere near the question.

It's because there's a lunatic fringe of Islam coercing weak minded people to do stuff like this. The key words here being lunatic and fringe. It's not mainstream.

However, she is right that there is violence in other religions too.

Both parties to the interview were demonstrating how to be a politician,

In terms of religions, yes there is violence shown by all of them, in terms of a follower or two from time to time, but how does that address what we faced in London and what other countries have faced from France to Tunisia and beyond?

When looking at the present situation globally, after reading your post I reflected on how many terrorist atrocities against the public have been committed by, say, tiny but radicalised % numbers of Sikhs or Buddhists in e.g. the past ten years or so.

Mail said:
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu revealed more about the investigation into the attack which killed four and injured more than 50 last Wednesday.

Police believe Masood drove up to 76mph as he ploughed into his victims on Westminster Bridge and the attack took a mere 82 seconds.

He said: 'His attack method appears to be based on low sophistication, low tech, low cost techniques copied from other attacks, and echo the rhetoric of IS (Islamic State) leaders in terms of methodology and attacking police and civilians, but at this stage I have no evidence he discussed this with others.

'Whilst I have found no evidence of an association with ISIS or al-Qaeda, there is clearly an interest in jihad.'

Detectives have also ruled out that Masood was radicalised in prison, saying he converted to Islam a year after being released.

You're quite right.

I don't think anyone dancing around the issue or diverting in the form of pointing out other religions have violence helps move the discussion forward.

The CSE disaster at Rotherham was partly caused by people being too afraid to state what was going on through fear of being perceived as racist.

The security services have two primary strands; International terrorism and Irish terrorism. The former isn't talking about anything other than Islamic terrorism: https://www.mi5.gov.uk/international-terrorism

It's nice to have a discussion where it goes without saying you're not tarring all Muslims with the same brush or having to qualify everything before tackling the issues head-on.
