A vile video of a young Syrian kid being bullied at a Huddersfield school popped up on social media recently.

The saddest part was the victim's reaction - well he didn't really react, just got up and walked away as if it had happened so often in the past that this was the new normal. They also broke his arm in a previous incident if the comments by other kids at the school are accurate.

A GoFundMe page was set up and has raised over £50k for the lad.

As for the 16 year old bully, his house is surrounded by police for his protection after his address was leaked online.

Is the reaction to this video not a tad extreme?

Exactly how is the £50k going to stop the bullying?

If the video was the only thing that had happened, then possibly, but it seems to be just one part of an ongoing bullying campaign against both him and his sister that happens to have been caught on camera and circulated. If this is his and his sister's daily reality, then how is getting the police involved etc an overreaction?

Better an extreme reaction than a muted one IMO.

I can't help thinking that the overt manifestation of racist scum in our society is in large part down to the media "giving everyone a platform to air their nasty views so that they may be challenged" to the extent that the medium-right were beamed into our living rooms to soften us up in the avuncular form of Nigel Farage and the likes, and who are now replaced by the further right oxygen thieves like Tommy Robinson, who this bully is clearly a follower of.

Just watched the video after reading about the event this morning. The older and bigger lad threw a headbutt, grabbed the other kid by the throat and threw him to the ground before conducting his own version of waterboarding.
I'm not surprised the locals don't want this type of thug in their school. Let's hope the courts and the school actually do something worthwhile this time.

private school?

As usual whoever set it up just wants to be the first to create a gofundme for people they don't know to show how caring they are

The gofundme page is useless and ridiculous at the same time.

That bully needs a good beating, I love it when stuff like this goes viral, because the bully always gets their just desserts.

i admit i cant open the links as it will anger me as i really hate bullying of any sort..... so, im guessing its crap what they did to him so, with that 50k,

send him private; let him smash 10 gcse's; 4 a -levels; train to be a doctor; then have him treat the a-holes who bullied him who will be claiming bens for their multiple children, crying out how they have never had life chances and demanding gastric band surgery and 02 deliveries for their COPD issues caused by smoking.

Hire someone bigger to beat up the bully?

All in though, this is pretty grim isn't it?

We know that bullying goes on and has done for years in schools, I certainly didn't see anything like this when I was at school but then I went to a reasonably good school. But people are idiots for filming it - everyone that you think is your "mate" has a limit when you start sharing stuff like this on WhatsApp etc.

I'd gladly get head butted and water boarded for £50K

This kind of thing used to go on on a daily basis at my school back in the 80's/90's, not saying it's right obviously, but it is a massive over reaction.

This trial by social media really worries me.

You can hear the big lad saying something like 'Say it again' suggesting the little kid had been mouthing off about him, typical teenage behaviour happens up and down the land as I said. Violence is clearly an over reaction, but just let the school sort it out and that's that.

All these 'celebrities' getting involved to show they are more caring than the next Z-lister, just fk off. They must have lived very sheltered lives.

Why did the bully try to kiss him before grabbing his neck?

The thing is many schools don't, they just turn a blind eye or tell the person being bullied to keep away from the bully, the bullying itself is never resolved, just brushed under the carpet.

Either that or the one time the victim eventually snaps after being continuously tormented will be the one time the school takes an active role whereby they will punish and sanction the victim.

Surprised the teachers haven’t come out in support of the bully, and blamed the victim for not reasoning with and understanding his assailant.

Agreed. It happened to my son and only got resolved when I threatened reporting the assault to the police, and removing my son from school

My son now suffers from anxiety and depression and I suspect will never function as a normal person.

You possibly are the only one so cynical to think it is staged.

Total . I hope he is living in fear in his guarded house, the coward.

As for the £50k. Good, I hope it makes considerably more and the kid isn't left thinking the bully is a representation of the UK. Hopefully let's the kid's family move to a nicer area or send him to a private school.
