Another one for the George Orwell treatment, I've just had the head midwife on my TV telling me in no uncertain terms that "the advice to pregnant women is - and always has been - to get jabbed as soon as your age bracket is called.

Can we fact check this please??
The wife's sister gave birth around 3 months ago, the advice all through pregnancy from her doctor was to wait until after giving birth for the vaccine. She had her first jab a couple of weeks ago, and got AZ interestingly enough. Judging by the JCVI guidance given also, this smells like absolute pangolin st from C4, as usual. Let me guess, one of Deepti or Pagel were on as well?
It was either BBC or Sky news. I'll see if it was uploaded to YouTube....

Channel 4 news ramping up the fear porn for unvaccinated pregnant women - 171 hospitalised covid patients in the last 3 months!
They didn’t say out of how many in total but with 600,000+ babies born each year it doesn’t seem a lot.
They’ve come for the kids and now they’re going for the unborn ones.
At least one of those is hospitalised due to ongoing concerns regarding the baby- but the mother tested positive (despite just hay fever like symptoms).
Make that at least 2 - pregnant friend of ours who caught it in hospital after admission.

In fact the majority of people I know who have had Covid have caught it during a hospital stay or in a care home. Scandalous

Another shocker, plastic screens do naff all apparently.

I always wondered why bio-hazard labs spent thousands on complicated filtration systems and life support suits when they could have just nailed a bit of perspex up.(or perplex if you work for the DM)

Unless I’m having a Groundhog Day, wasn’t that reported a month or so ago in the media?

Another one for the George Orwell quote

No they are bloody not rage

Just mentioned this to my wife, who's spent the week with me at Haven. A masked free "Haven" (SWIDT?) with less than 1% compliance, and similar in the towns we visited. She said "I can believe that"

Kneejerk after kneejerk.

We should have isolated and protected the vulnerable whilst we did a fee months' study on all these things. Meanwhile built up capacity in the NHS.

Instead we have a trolley PM who listened too much to Grima Cummings. Mind you, the same happened more or less worldwide (excepting the odd outliers).

I don't know but the air just goes around the sides and under the flap apparently. I had to sit down after learning that, to think I trusted my life with one in the shop earlier this evening as well.

Given the fresh air/breeze advice which seems logical…I’ve always thought the little plastic prisons around the self service checkout do a lot more harm than good.

Can’t speak out against visual pandemic cues though.

All you moaning about this moaning about plastic screens that etc
Think yourselves LUCKY. Some brave MP's put themselves forward as guinea pigs to attend sporting events in pilot schemes of large attendance.
These brave, chaps and chappeses got free tickets and attended these events so YOU didn't have to risk your own health.
Be proud, be inspired and be thankful

We are all in this together

Yep it was. Remember reading something similar in the Telegraph about a month ago.

Isn’t “news” like this essentially just a government press release designed to help folk wind back the measures whilst still being ‘based on science’ rather than some govt pleb saying “right peeps, don’t need the screens anymore.”

Someone didn't read the bit at the top; that is archived advice, withdraen and superceded in December 2020.

Here is the current advice.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-1...

Pregnant women are at significantly greater risk than non pregnant wpmen of the same age if they get Covid, especially later in pregnancy. It is no fun looking after a pregnant woman with Covid in ITU, trust me pregnancy makes looking after the woman much more difficult, more complicated and dangerous. And it happens not infrequently. As for neonatal outcomes, let's just say you don't normally start pregnancy expecting a stillbirth or premature delivery with potentially lifelong complications for the baby.

Hence why vaccination is strongly urged for all pregnant women, and around 200,000 in the the UK and USA alone have so far been vaccinated in pregnancy without harm.

Declaration of interest - medical consultant and hence close to the action here.
