You don’t think actually fixing the situation might not have garnered more votes?
And any ‘red meat’ voters have likely decamped to Reform.

This ‘they’re doing it on purpose’ idea just doesn’t stand up.
Now pay walled. But this was the Telegraph’s take. Remember it’s a Tory paper.

The Tories have a dirty secret: they don’t want to reduce immigration
The whole government system is hardwired to favour mass migration: it’s the ultimate short-term fix
Vote Reform U.K. as the rise in interest o the Party continues. to grow.

Just had a quick look at the reform parties website. I can only conclude they are deluded.

Net zero immigration - insane
No waiting lists - very expensive
Lower taxes - contradicting the above

And that’s just the first bit of the landing page

Encouraging that you haven’t contested my statement , ‘ the rise in interest’.
You are of course correct to point to the fact that Reform U.K. is still currently Ltd Co, however they are still classified as. Political Party.

Plenty of “political parties” (term used very loosely) get a rise in interest. Usually the extremist side of things. Who remembers things like The National Front, Britain First or the EDL, even UKIP. None of them did anything when it came to polling day. Your little bunch of loony tunes extreme right wingers will do the sum total of f**k all too.

UKIP achieved their main. purpose. - brexit.
Easy tiger smile
My personal expectation for Reform U.K. is limited to their achieving little more than a tiny handful of seats in the GE. As a recently founded political party that would be classed as a success and will offer a strong base to build from.

Is that was UKIP’s aim why did they carry on after Brexit and keep trying to win seats in the HoC?

Good luck winning a handful. I’m guessing they’ve got very small hands. When they don’t win any seays what are they going to build on?

I see you dodged commenting on the other political “parties”

UKIP were always an eurosceptic political party, from that it is clear to all that ‘brexit’ would be the ultimate success, even though brexit was a pipe dream back at the start.
Reform U.K. have no association with any hard right and extremists groups past or present.

Extreme right wingers?

Your political gauge appears to need recalibrating.

That's a very good point Cranked I mean it's not like their Honorary President went to speak at an AfD rally at the request of Hitlers Finance Ministers granddaughter or anything is it hehe

It doesn’t. On the scale of socially acceptable conversation they are so far off the scale it’s frightening. I’ll guarantee that none of you would be able to discuss their politics openly in an average work environment. That should tell you a lot about how extreme their views are.

And what was discussed and with what outcome?
Let’s see how our then P.M Chamberlin went into discussions with Hitler. It happens at all levels.

Nonsense.

Reform are currently second place in the 2024 election poll on PH. Do you think many of your fellow posters are 'off the scale' extreme right wingers?

On a scale of 1 to durrrrrrrrrrr that rates very highly to the right as well. If you think a website full of angry middle aged men, who hide behind anonymous usernames whilst trying to do outdo each other on who’s the most right wing and who can make the most offensive comment about something that they’ve decided is left wing, socialist, woke, multi-cultural something or other is somehow representative of the real world then you’re going to be a bit upset come election day.

On the ad hom logical fallacy scale, that's off the scale.

Are you an angry middle aged man, being on PH? PH works in certain ways including PH IDs, you have one yourself with no name in your profile, a choice made by lots of fellow PHers. It's a tad hypocritical of you to point a wagging finger at others doing the same. The offensive comments you mention are few and far between, and more often than not it's those on the left-illiberal spectrum who can't cope with alternative ideas and opinions who start name-calling, curiously that can be seen clearly above in your post. At this point the hypocrisy level is also off the scale.

Is there anything remotely resembling rational discussion Left in the cupboard? Rhetorical question. The election looks to be a dead cert for Starmer, it'll be worth the wait to see how big his majority is compared to the poll lead, given pretty much the only policy visible and not u-turned is 'not the tories'. The options available to us are all off the useless scale imo, there's not much to look forward to whoever wins.

They are not middle aged. They are old. Turbo being a prime example.

PH seems to be pretty left wing these days. Admittedly when I joined everyone was a fat, Company Director driving a Range River and running cyclists off the road but these days it’s solid Guardian reading territory with anyone who might vote Reform being listed as an extremist.
