He wasn't "promoting" racism; he was taking the piss out of the people who accuse him of that. Still, that doesn't make it funny.

I didn't mean that post, and yes, he is consistently promoting a very specific type of racism.

I must admit to not knowing that 88 was a thing.
It's a tedious alt-right meme.
The 8th letter of the alphabet is H, so 88 is / was a "clever" way of posting Heil Hitler while avoiding moderation.

The sort of thing that's screamingly funny and clever to 14 year old incels, like "420" for marijuana.
It's a white supremacist thing in general, not just an online meme. The contestant in the series "The Chop" (which was axed) had it tattooed on his cheek:

(He said that "88" referred to 1988, the year of his father's death, however his father gave an interview to a newspaper saying he had no idea that he had died)

So claims that Musk perjured himself when he was being deposed for a defamation case against him a nd claiming he wanted he wanted Twitter users to unmask neo Nazis.whilst at the same time was banning people for sharing the name of neo Nazi stonetoss,

This is the case where Ben Brody is suing Musk afer after Musk falsely accused him of being involved in a neo Nazi brawl, and Brody had to go into hiding.

In his deposition, Musk claimed, “I don’t think he has been meaningfully harmed by this.”

As pointed out, the same Musk that didn't want his jet tracked...

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that Elno is just a childish troll looking for attention, hence posts like this. Every online community has it's 'special' contributers, but few manage to get themselves made super-admin by buying the community.

It's all a bit pathetic really, and at some point Elno will realise it's damaging to his proper businesses.

It has taken you this long to realise this?

The Huffington Post have done a good write up of the disposition ( see here). He doesn't come out well.

In amongst that he has confirmed that the creepy account where he posts as his toddler son is actually him.

Yes and no! hehe

I've always presumed that he stirs debate in order to get people outraged and generate traffic. I've now decided that it's the trollish outrage which is the main reason, and any increase in traffic is secondary.

Seems the Russians have been buying Starlink on the Black Market and using it in Ukraine and Sudan, but they aren't being disabled.

Because Musk has turned off Starlink before to stop Ukraine defending themselves

Twitter x Freedom of Speech laugh

During the elections in Turkey he censored Twitter/X for Erdogan - Twitter's compliance silenced accounts that had been critical of the Turkish government

In India he'll happily let censorship happen for Modi

In Brazil he's fighting back against censorship when requested by a 'left wing' judge

See I'm all for free speech but selectively allowing it based on politics goes against the basic idea and marks it out as a meaningless slogan when he says it (tbf I'd argue that's the case more often than not when I hear someone talking about it these days)

Like a lot of things Musk espouses he's only motivated when it suits his interests.

He never told the Turkish accounts that they effectively silenced that this was happening to them, this is something he has only announced he is going to do for the Brazilian ones - simply because he has business interests in Turkey (SpaceX) and India (Tesla) and presumably doesn't care at all about Brazil.

It suits him to adopt a trenchent position with Brazil's government, because he supports the whole "free speech! no compromise!" narrative. He can lean as far into it as he possibly can, because he doesn't really stand to lose anything of value. Meanwhile with the Turkey and India stuff he just silently supports those regimes and the suppression of contrary opinions.

Sadly those predisposed to fawning over Musk have a selective memory, and will simply choose to disregard the Turkey/India stuff completely.

I can't be bothered to cite a link, because I'm struggling to type left-handed (ooh matron!), but Musk appears to be trying to pick a fight with Australian authorities after they forced him to block a defamatory anti-trans post about an Aus person.

The post was blocked, but Musk has been banging on about free speech, and the offending tweet has been reposted as a screen shot.
