I must admit to not knowing that 88 was a thing.
Me neither! And it also happens that 8/8 is the spouses birthday! Does that make her a Nazi? Not sure....

hehe

But I do wonder why he decided on 8/8 though. Its a Thursday and it doesnt make sense to do a major announcement. Usually you want to do this on a Friday or over the weekend. That way you can maximize the press coverage without impacting the share price and get it as wide and far as possible.

Strikes me as weird to pick that day.

There is nothing odd about them picking a Thursday. They have often used Thursdays for their unveiling events.

Thats fine, but for the public companies that I have worked for, they havent ever announced anything on a Thursday, even with new product launches at conferences etc. Still think that doing this on a Thursday is weird - even if they have done it before.

There are lots of practical considerations which go into the day of week choice for an unveiling. Just because you didn't pick Thursdays doesn't make it weird. As I said, they have picked Thursday for their unveiling events going back to 2016, including the Model S Plaid unveiling event, the Cybertruck unveiling, the Semi / Roadster unveiling, the Tesla Model 3 unveiling event etc.

I don't think the choice of Thursday was odd, but the way he chose to present it was. As I mentioned previously, Musk usually refers to dates using the format like March 10, Nov 20 etc. I think we therefore can assume when he says 8/8, just like when he says 4/20, he thinks it was somehow amusing.

You seem to have posted a conspiracy nut case replying to an Elon tweet. Where is the Musk conspiracy promotion?

It's in Elnos 'just asking questions' approach. He's baiting his hook, and getting the nutty responses he's fishing for.

CT101 - just asking questions - it's the ability to promote fktards at the same time as distancing yourself from the nuttiest of the nuttiest.

The thing that gets me is Elons current brand, all his companies, are engineering and science based.

And yet he does this? Almost as if he wasn't the brains behind any of it....

Tesla is laying off more than 10% of its global workforce, equivalent to at least 14,000 jobs

He certainly likes to run his companies lean!

He can try wrapping it up as “lean, innovative and hungry” but really it’s just classic American corporate mentality.

Share price dips, offload a chunk of the workforce to show you’re reducing costs, share price tends to rebound a bit.

Alot of the American manufacturers are though as they are unable to sell older over priced stock from the covid bump.

Garages can't take the new cars as they have the space nor can sell them. They can't lower the rrp price too much otherwise the old used stock is going to have to tank and put alot of dealerships out of production.

Few months ago there was a union workers strike, which was welcomed by the manufacturers as it meant they could slow production down.

So it's not just tesla

I'm sure they will be very angry though.... they are getting the opportunity to buy their new truck for circa $100k even though they are selling at auction for circa $250k.
