It's 2pm Sunday and on the Rishi good result/ bad result resultometer i say its been a good weekend.
The Mark "they kidnapped me" Menzies issue rumbles on but apart from that its been generally good for Rishi.
The Met Police are certainly helping Rishi by grabbing the headlines for their "making it up as we go along " dealings with jewish folk.
Those headlines have taken the focus off Rishi which will give him some much needed leeway to come up with some bash the poor/ send 'em back unworkable policies to appeal to practically no one.
A few more weeks like this and he can safely smudge the figures about his 5 priorities or whatever they were called and claim he has achieved them.

EDIT *****MORE GOOD NEWS*****

Mark " They kidnapped me" Menzies has resigned from the Tory Party
That means they are no longer tainted by this chaps activities
This is yet more good news for Rishi

Indeed - a 24 hour period that doesn’t include some sort of calamity is now regarded as a good day.

I really don't know what the problem is here. People clearly don't understand mental illness. It is something that can be simply eradicated by legislation. It never existed in my day. People just manned up; you can't even say man up to someone anymore as some woke snowflake will take vicarious offence. Mental illness is a social construct that simply exists to validate state nannying and allow those who wish to opt out to do so and be supported by those of us who stuck in at school and/or got our lives together and pulled ourselves up by our bootstraps. Mental illness, like gender issues, racism, sexism, homophobia and any/all 'isms' or 'obias' are the product of a deep state controlled by the left to enable them to control our thoughts and actions. When I was a lad you could call a spade a spade, but call a spade a spade now and you'll be suspended from your job and held up by the press, which is also controlled by leftist gender fluid free Palestine workshy immigrants to further their own agendas as some kind of right wing nutcase, or even a fascist who is a danger to society. Don't get me wrong, of course, some people have genuine Mental health issues. Even I feel a little down sone days, or angry for no reason I can identify, but I CHOOSE not to let it affect me. I CHOOSE to have a good day. People with real mental health issues, of which there are, undoubtedly a few are simply making poor choices. The Tory party shoukd be commended for trying to implement these new measures, which will help sort the wheat from the chaff AND once sorted, help the genuine cases man up, sorry, and make better choices. This simple piece of policy will get the country back on its feet and within 6 months we will all be able to leave our houses without locking our doors and weekly street parties like we had for the Queen's coronation will help keep those feeling 'a little bit down' a lot happier. Win/win.
I half expecting some of the regular hardcore, Tories can do no wrong, posters to come out in support.

Just listening to Sunak's press conference about flights to Rwanda and I'm sat here open mouthed in disbelief.

Is this honestly at the forefront of the mind of the British voter and an election winning campaign to differentiate the Tories from Labour?

It's odd, but I'd quite like to know how we're going to improve the efficiency of the NHS, whether or not my pension will be put back to 71, and whether some of the potholes I almost vanished into this weekend are going to be repaired to name but three. Flights to Rwanda aren't up there if I'm honest.

I've got it on too, the man's an idiot. This is purely a hard reaction to the gains Reform are making. Personally (and I'm fluid with whom I vote for, so not a 'leftie' rant) what really grated me was the constant 'but Labours fault' tone of the speech. You're in charge Rishi, own it and stop the snivelling 'yeah but' BS.

Any one who thinks Rwanda is the answer isn't a decent human being IMO.

Of course not. All everyone's talking about is VAT on private school fees.

That's a given, no shortage round here though. The current impasse is astounding. The ping pong is over an amendment guaranteeing Afghans who served us resettlement status.

Andrew Mitchell went on R4 this morning to insist there were legal routes for those people where in reality, we have shafted thousands of them & even if he was right, which he isn't, it would be an argument for accepting the amendment anyway. It's all just such bad politics, posturing & confrontation for column inches in the Mail & still a st idea that won't get ahywhere near its own aims.

Sunak is morphing into the Horner of politics. And I am not referring to the recent controversy.

There's no way that Sunak, as a technocrat, believes that Rwanda is anything but a dog whistle appeal to the knuckle draggers.. It's pretty contemptible that he's prepared to parrot this idiocy.

I'm amazed this thread has still got legs.

EVERYBODY agrees the Tories are useless and destroyed the country in numerous ways.
EVERYBODY knows they're dead in the water.
EVERYBODY knows Sunak is a weak, pathetic man 'in charge' of a weak pathetic party with no ideals/beliefs.

NOBODY like him.
NOBODY thinks he's a strong leader or doing a good job.
NOBODY takes the pathetic claims spouted to woo the Reform vote seriously.

Surely we're all in agreement? What's there to discuss?!

It's like discussing a stray toenail as it washes down the plughole...

Cheers me right up.

I think the polling does say that people are worried about it. What Rishi misses because he is obsessed with the numbers on a spreadsheet is that just because people want it to be dealt with doesn't mean it is the top issue (economy and health being top in almost every election) and what he misses because he is a crap politician is that he should be pinning his colours to the mast of things that will actually happen (like bringing inflation down which would have happened whoever was PM) not on things that are difficult to accomplish and controversial if they do.

Unfortunately that stray toenail still has the ability to clog the drain and cause all the st to back up and flood the house. Years of flushing rubbish and letting the plumbing decay means that toenail is still a risk to us all.

I think I have stretched the metaphor as far as humanly possible.

Dont worry, the Tories are saved !!!

Rishi says that the first Rwanda fligths are only 10 to 12 weeks away. Phew.. for a moment I thought he might not be elected at the next general election.

He has played a blinder and I expect that the polls will show a complete reversal in 10 to 12 weeks time.

Probably.

What makes it worse, if that is possible, is that the Rwanda plan is (and I am being kind to those few people who think it is a good idea) extremely unlikely to actually stop the boats. I am amazed that a man who is supposedly intelligent can actually stand there and spout nonsense.
