Whatever the rights, wrongs, what he did/ didn't do one thing needs to be done.
The BBC need to work out who is going to do the election coverage chief this year
They are down 2 people at least - Huw Edwards and Emily Maitlis
Personally I think Clive Myrie will get the job with Laura Kuenssberg in a major role

Not being a follower of roundball, this is the first I've heard of this Barton fellow. "Throbber" seems a rather inadequate adjective to describe him.
I don’t follow football either but I seem to hear of him quite regularly. I find it amazing that he’s been kept in the game all these years - what does that do for its reputation?

Don't say Emily Maitlis has been noncing too?
Just too much of a champagne socialist and not very good at masking it from her job. She also isn't that good as revealed by her big interviews with the likes of Trump and Woking Pizza Lad which means that as the looks that got her in fade and the connections that kept her in retire she would have known that having turned 50 she would be heading south. The real loss being Kirsty Wark who doesn't fawn in front of wallets because she put herself where she is based on ability and intelligence so has zero use for them. DonkeyApple said:

To be fair in the last 2 elections she was stuck on a gantry and kept viewers informed of share of vote changes. It was as if the BBC didnt really know what to do with her.

A shame that, he was a good presenter.
Hopefully he will get well & make a comeback at some point in the future.
I do wish him well but I don't he'll be back on TV unless it's to do I am a Celebrity...Hopefully he will get well & make a comeback at some point in the future.
Funny how the gutter press hoped to whip up a scandal, as if in victorian times.
The general view, nobody cared!
A shame for him personally.

There is a strong desire amongst certain parts of the press - and as we see on PH, some members of the public - for the BBC to be caught up in scandal.Funny how the gutter press hoped to whip up a scandal, as if in victorian times.

And of course if he'd worked for GB News no one would have said anything. I am alright Jack said:
