Paddy power has Trump ahead at Evens vs 5/4 for Biden.

I regret not sticking a few quid on Biden when the odds were longer a month back.
2.4 on Biden 1.9 on Trump according to the site I use occasionally

A quid on Biden gets you your stake and another £1.40 on top. Trump gets you your £1 stake back and 90p on top.

Not sure bookies are a good barometer of what’s likely to happen though, much more likely that they’re reacting to where the (stupid) money is flowing.

Not sure what site you are using, nothing anything like that on this selection:

That said, none of it makes much sense for the bookies (barring an extreme event) in having a 2 horse race with both around evens and some even better than evens net across the two.

They’re decimal odds, the 1.9 for Trump is the same as your 10/11.

The Manhattan DA's office have asked for a clarification about the scope of trump's gag order after his recent attacks. trump's lawyers are arguing that Judge Merchan's daughter is not covered by the gag order, but also that she should not be covered and she's fair game for trumps attack on her

https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-juan-merch...

edit: letter

The DA’s office argues, he should be sanctioned under NY Judiciary Law Sections 750(A)(3) and 751. Both pertain to *criminal* contempt.

750 defines what counts as criminal contempt and at subsection (A)(3), includes “willful disobedience to [a court’s] lawful mandate.” 751 lists the penalties for such criminal contempt, including imprisonment not exceeding 30 days

Manhatten DA not messing about. Lets see what Merchan does.

Yup the healthiest diet.

After attending the photo op at the murdered police officers wake, trump stopped off at the All American Drive-In and spent $200 on his way back to the plane.

All American manager Richard Vultaggio revealed to reporters that Trump purchased 18 “double double” cheeseburgers, 10 hot dogs, two quarter-pounder hamburgers with cheese, 20 orders of French fries, and 10 orders of onion rings, along with numerous servings of ketchup and mustard.

Edit: Tim Miller calls out trumps hypocrisy using the police as a photo op whilst claiming he's going to be releasing and pardoning his maga mob convicted for attacking the police

There's quite an interesting backlash to trumps attendance for a photo op at the murdered police officers wake.

Many examples of how trump jumps onto any opportunity for a promotion. Tossing paper towels out to earthquake survivors,

claiming his 40 Wall Street was the largest building in NY after the 9/11 attacks
https://twitter.com/i/status/1568942272380653568

Where he claimed he was there and helped cleanup but didnt, claimed he saw muslims cheering, even took a $150k grant for damage even though his buildings were 4 miles away
https://www.forbes.com/sites/lisettevoytko/2020/09...

After the train derailment that polluted E. Palestine, trump flew into town to promote his “trump Water,” did a photo op at a fast food joint, promising to buy everyone food, but never did. The trump water was out of date...

If only a publication on the other side of the fence would publish an article arguing, on the same bases, that Obama should be allowed to stand again - just to see how many journos & politicians on the GOP side could be goaded into apoplexy biggrin

Former prosecutor asks the same question
Joyce Vance:"I know from experience how the Secret Service interacts with people who make threats against POTUS, even ones they can't carry out. This, from a former President, is totally out of bounds. It's time to stop letting Trump break the rules. Long past time."

This thread has turned into Dunning Kruger complex at it's finest.

Someone made the point yesterday that it would be wrong to opine on their line of work.

I would simply not comment on something I have no knowledge of but would certainly respect the views of someone who knows that field.

Trump is already in a big financial hole. As I have repeatedly said real life is not a TV show where everything happens in a few episodes.

Since we have now degenerated into personal remarks despite what I have patiently tried to explain I'll leave further comment to the experts here and not waste my time.
I do appreciate your posts and agree with quite a few of them. The issue to me is each time things change there’s an explanation on why it’s ok and still bad for Trump.

In this case I don’t remember seeing anyone say it was likely the amount of money would be reduced, it was all about him losing his properties etc as he had no money. (It might have been posted but I missed it though). After it happens suddenly it was clearly going to be changed though and he would pay a smaller amount that he could pay. It’s stuff like that where it’s always obvious what was going to happen but only posted with hindsight and bad for Trump no matter what. Same with the money for Truth - it’s likely a big cash bonus for Trump at some point soon. Some of the shares might fall, but he’ll still make loads.

The fine has not been changed; the bond required to be lodged for appeal was reduced but the fine remains the same. When the appeal is heard it might be reduced or it might be increased.

I try to follow this thread but have missed a few pages over the fast days, esp around the drop in amount required for his appeal in NY. So apologies if this goes over recent discourse…

AIUI…

The judgment is unchanged and trump has still been penalised just under $500M.

The judge has allowed an additional 10 days to the appeal period, and also allowed that $175M needs to be paid in order for that appeal to be heard, rather than the full penalty.

The appeal is about the size of the penalty, not the judgment itself - still guilty/liable - and that could change either up or down, or remain at its current level

Floating TS has provided opportunity for trump to access money that could cover either the amount required for an appeal to be heard ($175M) or possibly the payment of the full current penalty (c$500M). Whether either of those numbers could be realised in time Is debatable.

Once that money has been realised and penalty paid, it’s not trump’s - he still doesn’t have any money.

If that’s the case, how is trump in any way off the hook? He’s been granted a concession within the appeals process, but the need to pay c$500M hasn’t gone away, and the means to acquire that money are looking slight.

What have I missed??

Clinton opined that while two consecutive terms was probably enough allowing ex-presidents to run again after one term could be considered.
