Andrew Weissman made the point yesterday that the hush money payment wasn't about keeping the story from Melania, because he didn't want to pay it until after the election. If he lost it wouldn't matter and he wouldn't have to pay the money.

Weissman said that destroys trumps defence it was to protect Melania, it was about a catch and kill to stop bad stories coming out and affecting his election chances.

George Conway pointing out trump is his own worse enemy, he's so thin skinned it's easy to rile him and he lashes out without thinking

Pointed out he won't take lawyers advice, in fact in the second EJC trial, trump fired his lawyer Joe Tacopina who had been trying to control trumps comment and posts. Once Tacopina was gone, trump began posting multiple rants online and acting out in court, which ultimately cost him and helped prove the claim against him.

He didn't mention ketchup but said trump "hate watches" MSNBC and was probably watching them, so Conway took the opportunity to say he's a narcissistic sociopath and unwell.

Speaker Johnson claiming he blocked Ukraine Aid because the GOP had other important things to do
https://twitter.com/i/status/1780698750702494040

Hounding Hunter Biden, spending a year trying to manufacture evidence against Biden to help trump, Blocking Bills to help trump, passing a Mayorkas impeachment without any evidence?

Edit: Many people pointing out Johnson probably has been told he'll get Dem backing to keep his job if he works with them.

Marge is trying to introduce an amendment requiring members to “conscript in the Ukrainian military” if they vote for the Ukraine supplemental bill.

And to use (Jewish?) space lasers to defend the border

In response, Rep Moskowitz says he'll introduce an amendment appointing Marge as Putin’s Special Envoy to Congress.

Another classic tell from trump accusing others of what he's doing. This time claiming it's Biden that wants full immunity

Michael Brooks, the senior enlisted leader of the D.C. guard at the time of the riot, and Brigadier Gen. Aaron Dean, the adjutant general of the D.C. guard at the time, testified to the House Administration Committee that trump never made any calls to the National Guard on his insurrection day.

They said they could have mobilised quicker if trump had picked up the phone and said GO. Instead he watched his magamob attack the Capitol and called GOP members who he thought would help stop the votes being certified.

At the same hearing, Republicans blaming Democrats for Jan 6th on the basis that they didn't call the National Guard. https://www.rawstory.com/trump-january-6-266780078... anything to try and deflect from trump I guess.

A retired electrician apparently spotted a way to dismiss the documents case that Cannon missed, so he tried to submit an amicus brief to tell Cannon where she's gone wrong. Even Cannon denied the request. The way its written the guy is completely sure of his own intelligence being far above anyone elses - other people seemingly are not quite as convinced, reminds me of someone... https://www.rawstory.com/trump-mar-a-lago-26678002...

Comer got backed in to a corner by Raskin over the Biden impeachment effort and threw his toys out the pram declaring "you need therapy". No Sir, that would be you. https://www.thedailybeast.com/jamie-raskin-and-jam...
Moskowitz piled in afterwards too https://www.rawstory.com/comer-moskowitz/

Speaking of Comer, he has long criticised the Bidens for hiding in a number of LLC corporations alleging that they are using the companies to engage in illegal activities... guess who just registered his second LLC at the exact same address of his first one.. https://www.thedailybeast.com/james-comer-creates-...

Suggestion that Marge is losing standing with her colleagues https://www.rawstory.com/marjorie-taylor-greene-cn...

As expected, the senate quickly threw out the Mayorkas impeachment effort that the house GOP were hoping to steal headlines with.

GOP appear to be nowhere close to even starting to sort themselves out in to a party that can govern.

Does anyone else have the impression that Trump honestly thought that being President was like being a king or CEO of a country, and as a result he could do absolutely anything he wanted without any comeback, because “he’s the boss”?

I think he might actually be that stupid…

Wanted to run the country the way he ran his company, just putting Yes men around him that would do what he wanted.

34 felony counts of falsifying business records for the illegal concealment of payments made as part of an elaborate “catch-and-kill” hush money scheme in a bid to influence the 2016 Presidential election, is just a bookkeeping error according to Lara trump

Yes. That’s exactly what he thought and probably still does. He’s a narcissist with zero grasp of reality or self awareness

Some of the video of Raskin and Comer is incredible

Comer trying to claim Biden family took $9m from China
Raskin: Thats been discredited. If Biden took a bribe, why aren’t you impeaching him?
https://twitter.com/i/status/1780631478671757573

Quite like the bit where Raskin proved trump took money from China, listed all the receipts

Comer trying the trump 'it's coming in two weeks' about the Biden impeachment he has no proof for.
https://twitter.com/i/status/1780634674903335289

Comer claiming it hasn't cost millions. Raskin: Then we get what we pay for because you got nothing
https://twitter.com/i/status/1780635580868759842

Raskin with all the times trump praised foreign dictators
https://twitter.com/i/status/1780766182565425494

Do we think the Mayorkas impeachment was a trial run to see if they could push something without any evidence?

Exactly, no-one ever told him no and he's always had enougfh money to make whatever he wanted happen. The whole immunity bid thing is basically because someone told him there are rules and he doesn't want to be bound by them (especially for acts he has allegedly already committed).

Screw over business partners ? sure, who is gonna stop me ? screw hookers while the wife is pregnant or has just given birth - why not ? Take foreign money whilst in a position of power ? absolutely. Hide all my tax returns/payments because I'm on the fiddle - yep, only dumb people pay tax, I'm way smarter than that... and so it goes on.

I honestly don't think he sees himself as breaking laws/rules or that they should apply to others but not him particularly - he just wants the freedom to do whatever he decides.Thats why all his legal problems are a "biden witch hunt", almost as if he is being dragged down by a technicality - the law just isn't that important.

His ego and arrogance has been built up over decades of asserting himself as the smartest/best/cleverest guy out there and getting adulation for it (especially in the 80s when he was the darling of the business world) has just emboldened him.

Doesn't that show just how dumb the business world really is? Either that or they are all doing exactly the same as he did except they are smart enough not to push it too far and get caught.

It shows how racist the establishment. If he wasn't WASP - he'd be seen for what he is (a mob boss) decades ago.

trump was propped up by his dad by $413m, again using tax evasion, fraud and undervaluation

If there's one think trump is good at, it's conning people. He appeared successful but it was all someone elses money. It's always been someone elses money. The other thing that trump is good at is losing lots of money.

A programme about trumps trials is due to air on PBS America (freeview Ch 84) next Tues 23rd at 5pm (repeat at 9:45) it’s a 2 parter.
‘Frontline investigates the roots of the criminal cases against former president trump.’

Frontline documentaries are usually quite good.
