Just listened to Richard Tice on Politics Live. He has categorically stated that he will only accept one in one out migration. i.e Zero overall increase.

This no matter what the status of the immigrant. Research scientists, care workers etc all banned unless someone leaves the UK to balance the total number. Not sure whether that applies to students as well. If it does it will destroy a number of our universities that use overseas students to subsidise UK students.

Can someone who supports Reform explain how with nearly full employment and shortages in many skills the UK will grow our economy as our birth rate is less than 2.1 and still falling and we have an ever ageing population so the non working versus working population is moving the wrong way.

Seems like a rather excellent way to entice companies out of the UK.
500,000 instead of 1 million then...I doubt the numbers coming here for education change much year on year.
Better productivity and more automation will cover some of it along with recently retired people being able to earn £8,000 per year without paying tax will add a fair few, you should also be able to get rid of the stupid situation where you are better off only working 16 hours a week rather than full time.
After all that adding or not adding less than 1% of the workforce is neither here nor there.

To many people on long term sick leave, what’s the number 2.5 million. Get some of the malingerers back to earning a living instead of living off benefits would be a good start. Seems PTSD can be brought about by ones car not starting in the morning, well not quite perhaps.
Like all politicians Reform U.K. would almost certainly ‘ end in the wind’ once the responsibility of governance bears down. Not likely to see that for a term or two.

It's not a Cadbury Gesture Egg though is it?

It's a Cadbury Easter Egg and one store has put a poster in their window advertising "Gesture Eggs".

It's bonkers but it's some weird thing one store has done than something Cadbury have done.

I've got one and it says Easter all over the box I just wish it was bloody bigger biggrin
Maybe the poster secretly feels he wants his egg to identify as a Gesture Egg ?
You should stop munching on your chocolate eggs and get down the gym.
Nope, don’t go to the gym, volunteer for litter picking duties. Councils can no longer afford to keep towns and countryside clean so your input is most welcome and highly valued. coffee
Good for you man! What a nice thing to do for your community. thumbup

Don’t take the piss with PTSD please. It can be completely debilitating and can completely destroy an individual and those close around them.

I know you’re being a bit flippant but mental health is seriously underplayed and misunderstood in this country with mere lip service paid to helping those suffering.

Particularly disappointing to see Cranked play that card when he has his own health issues.

Apparently people on the benefits system are now suffering PTSD as a result of possibility that Government are looking to reform the benefits system.

Correct BUT, we’re carrying too many malingerers.

This would probably be improved considerably if the NHS was up to speed.

As no-one born after 1944 or so did national service, what Reform could propose is bringing back National Service for pensioners. Sure, you get your state pension but in return you need to work 20 hours a week on community projects until you are too frail. Plenty that needs doing.

This is Reform at it a best. Policy for the hard of thinking. I am sure the idea is popular with some but how's it's going to work?

Those in the UK on visas can be tracked to some extent but how does the government know if someone with the right to live in the UK leaves. The government currently uses survey data from airport but it's likely not very accurate. Other than that there is no need to tell the government if your leaving on holiday or for good. Even if you do plan to leave for good you have the right to return at any time. Or will they only allow you back if some one else leaves.

The poster mentions student visas. Again now will that work? Say 300k visas end in the year so that will be the limit. What happens to the 300,001 applicant? No visa? How do you allocate the visa across the competing universities. How do you convince students to continue to apply when they may not get a visa?

Work transfer visas matter to may companies. If an international company wants to set up or expand in the UK, the lack of work transfer visas will put them off.

I am sure the system might be able to be set up but it's going to take a huge increase in bureaucracy. How does that work for a party of small government and low taxes. I also say the system might work but based on most government ideas suspect it will be expensive and fail.

That is the problem when the Tories run down the NHS, as they always do. Productivity isn't helped when people can't access GPs or normal health care services, when millions are waiting for operations meaning recovery takes longer, and so on.

And people on the right blame the people suffering this instead of the politicians responsible for all of this.

Talk about lack of critical thinking. smile

Nah Cranked is the traditional pull the ladder up behind them type.

I wish him nothing but the best with his own health issues but you can put money on it that whatever the definition of a malingerer is it'll always be other people.

Even easier with illnesses you can't see.

The old folk don’t want to help put things right. They have broken everything, spent all the money and voted for Brexit. Now they just want to sit on their arses eating chocolate and spouting rubbish on NP&E!
