To many people on long term sick leave, what’s the number 2.5 million. Get some of the malingerers back to earning a living instead of living off benefits would be a good start.
This would probably be improved considerably if the NHS was up to speed.
I’m not sure that the NHS will ever be equipped to deal with mental illness, certainly for other ‘long term ailments’ I agree with you. 2.5 million people on long term sick leave is a massive issue for U.K.
As the problem of mental illness is being expanded and diagnosed in ever increasing numbers of
people they are offered medication and then most are forgotten about.

All paid for by working people. Should get the oldies down the job centre and make them look for work, otherwise take their benefits way.

Any malingerers should have their benefits reduced after three months - sooner for those with illnesses that can't be seen, as they're almost certainly made up anyway / sarcasm

And getting the triple lock.

Don't forget they've earned it hehe
I’m embarrassed at a personal by the Governments insistence to retain the triple lock tbh. If that is abandoned now within ten years the State pension will have fallen to poverty levels of income, let’s be honest it’s not exactly generous at today’s levels. Those retiring in the future won’t have a State pension and people working at MW today won’t have much in the way of a company pension either I suspect.
No worries Labour will sort it all out rolleyes

It is interesting considering why Reform are not pushing the benefits and opportunities created by Brexit?

Why would that be?

Reform is doing well because the electorate is angry and frustrated. The bulk of this thread was succinctly summed up on a Radio 5 phone- in programme. A man of 87 said simply that the Tories have been in power for 14 years and done nothing but talk

Yeah it's definitely that.

Not that even they can't see any benefits to push.

Oh and Turbobloke reduced to yipping about on about the EU because even he can't find anything good to say about this lot.

God the next five years on here is going to be fun hehe

There's that, some people are incapable of accepting democratic outcomes and they vote too.

The same 'some people] are still hanging on to falsiifed ecconomic guesscasting. Hilarious! Models are sooooooo good.

Redistribution of wealth at national and eurpopean levels is always a l'Oréal thing, comrade, they're worth it.

major tax, spending cuts and re-regulation have been buried, for now, as a political approach

really, the lib dems should be holding this chalice but there's more political capital to be won by staying quiet on these issues and not being a Tory.

2029 is an opportunity to have a vote on those topics but I expect the narrative to start as soon as Labour are in power.

I was about to post an almost identical comment. Whatever the election brings rejoining the wasteful, corrupt EU cannot be on the agenda.

Like a K-Tel greatest hits compilation with a scratch in here. Europe, wasters, woke eggs, all the burning issues of the day. Meanwhile in definitely credible alternative & not a bunch of facetious gimps news.
