Murrell - who's he ?

I dont recall being married to him.
Maybe just me, but I find it very hard to believe that his wife did not know what he was doing, this is from an article in the Sunday Times in 2020

Here is Nicola Sturgeon, speaking in the Scottish parliament this week: “I deal with confidential matters every day of my life . . . I do not gossip about those things, even to my husband. I am the first minister of the country, not the office gossip, and I take my responsibilities in that role extremely seriously.”
And here is Nicola Sturgeon, speaking to the Daily Record in 2012: “Being in the same kind of line of work [as my husband] has its upsides and its downsides. The upside is that Peter [Murrell] understands what’s going on and why I am late home all the time. The downside is that you just end up talking about it all the time and you never leave it”

What I don’t get is why someone from Arnold Clark hasn’t removed their sticker from the rear windscreen of Murrell’s car.

A Wee Dram as I'm finishing some late commission work.

Opened a new bottle in celebration.

Its inconceivable she didn't know and surely everyone in Scotland with a modicum of intelligence will be of the same opinion . What's of equal interest to me given that Police Scotland couldn't catch snot in a hankie is where the initial tip came from .

What I find interesting is that Police Scotland submitted a draft warrant for the search of his home, which prosecutors delayed until after the end of the leadership contest

I suspect if they had granted the warrant when the police requested it, then we wouldn’t have continuity Humza as the FM.

The wingnuts on WeeGingerDug are quite happy with Murrell being arrested as it 'clears the SNP' as the party is the victim in the crime of embezzlement. Just a former staff member. Which may technically be true but because they've got their heads buried so deep in the sand they can't grasp that nobody will believe he acted alone and this will fk the SNP for years. Rotten to the very top.

I'll save my celebration for the day he is in the pokey though. Or other arrests are made.

Some interesting stories other than Murrell on today’s front pages: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3g8v2j4e22o
Scotsman seems to be suggesting some form of road pricing or congestion charging dressed up as an eco measure and the Herald suggesting that Calmac get the ferry contract in perpetuity

As an aside, did no-one tell Màiri McAllan that you’re supposed to wait till AFTER the bigger story breaks before you release your embarrassing u-turn/climb down?

Give the lass a break, she's still on her work experience!

The danger with awarding Calmac a contract without tender, other than the obvious, is that it sets precedence for them to give work to Ferguson's without competitive tender.

There was idle talk of merging Calmac, CMAL and Ferguson's, which would just be an absolute shambles - there would be even less scrutiny over the quality of the ships being built at Port Glasgow, and no effective way for the owner/operator to refuse/cancel if contracted terms weren't being met. Basically, you'd have the Glen Sannox/Rosa scandal playing out on loop in perpetuity.

They’d have to extend the M8 from Langbank right through to the coast for all the lorry loads of money that would be getting dumped into black holes in Port Glasgow and Gourock. The problem is that I’m sure Scottish Labour will think this is a great idea, the same way as they’ve voted for most of the SNP’s recent stshows.

In the future, psychology textbooks will be written using the cognitive dissonance of SNP supporters to explain the nuances of cult mentality.

OK Murrell has been charged with embezzlement, the big question is who else was involved there will be others. Taking money from a political party fund must be quite difficult as many eyes will be watching what comes and goes.

Firstly the treasurer Colin Beattie “who was also arrested then quit the party” would have to be informed and permission given which would leave a paper trail, which bank processed the transaction again it would leave a trail, where was the destination of the payment it has to be shown on the account, I can't believe Murrell sneaked a bag full of cash from under the noses of all these people...he had help and the perpetrators must be prosecuted as well.

And Sturgeon...as the leader of the party who ruled it with an iron fist nobody did anything without permission and god help them if they did - https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/11884649/nic... – and we all saw the group video of Sturgeon laying down the law telling them not to mention the party finances.

Sturgeon knew in minute detail what went on in that party if anyone thinks otherwise they are fools.

Some people must regret that the internet never forgets. Take the SNP Chief Exec - Murray Foote.

" It is inconceivable to me that Peter would so much as consider doing something dodgy lest it rebound and put his wife in jeopardy. Colin is no-one’s fool. He is a capable, cautious and diligent MSP who values his integrity.

So I’m prepared to gamble the Foote £5 on no charges at the end of all this."
