I wonder if this picture first shown above

https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/_Rjxs8IRIohcZSIZ...

Had anything to do with his eventual manner of death. Healed by water killed by water. He realised his sin and jumped into the water.
On the other hand I could just be thinking how ridiculous the whole thing is and how daft it actually looks.
My favourite priest was a loon in Blackpool called Father Francis (known locally as cat mad Frankie)

And anyway it's not quite the same thing as "Can I claim asylum here?" "Hmm let's see you've been convicted of sexual assault and exposure and you're on the sex offenders register, yes of course you can come on in" is it.
The next question that gets asked is "OK, he's very undesirable to have here, where do we send him....."

As mentioned above, the crime doesn't make the deport criteria. IIRC it was him exposing himself while taking a pee, and patting a woman's bum. (I may have misremembered that though) Blame the criminal Judge for not giving a long custodial sentence, although at that level it may not be warranted
The criteria need changed. Every single one of my friends and extended family have managed to live all their lives in this country without exposing themselves and patting a woman's bum. If a guest in this country can't keep his pecker in his trousers and his hands to himself then cheerio.

AS his later attack proved supposed less serious offences can be indicators of a risk of more serious offences down the line. If you can't meet the low bar of not being a convicted criminal than deportation should be automatic.

..and why pay for an expensive lengthy sentence when deporting him home is cheap and he remains free. Better solution all round.

To actually get physically deported from the UK really takes some pretty strong ‘qualifications’. More likely people are politely asked to leave in a Sargeant Wilson manner.

Deportation flights should be on military aircraft imho. More expensive monetarily perhaps, but not in other ways.

I hope that any of those who intervened and then smugly patted themselves on the back afterwards feel utterly ashamed of themselves.

They won't, they'll do some mental gymnastics to excuse it, but they should feel utterly ashamed.

It would be right for them to be charged with aiding and abetting a criminal.

Oh great, toni is sharing his inexplicably confident "knowledge" of the immigration system again.

Thousands of people are "physically deported" every year. Mostly on scheduled flights. I'm pretty sure the military have stuff to do already, but either way the idea that it makes sense to run thousands of flights with more crew than passengers to grandstand about how tough you are and prevent a small handful of disruptive removals being delayed shouldn't have survived more than a few seconds of actual thought.

You always assume an air of superior knowledge of these matters.
What are your qualifications?

BA(Hons), a few swimming certificates.

Oh, and I know a lot about the UK's immigration system. What's your excuse for your air of superior knowledge that allows you to write things like "To actually get physically deported from the UK really takes some pretty strong ‘qualifications’.?"

As you ‘know a lot’ if you say so yourself, you’ll probably have seen this Sky News report then.

Our government's flagship immigration policy is an expensive bit of performative cruelty that it can't even get passed into law, a bit of wasted military resource would be small potatoes.

In God we trust but others need to bring evidence.

Nobody knows that much about the planned deportations and their effectiveness as there haven't been any afaics. I may have missed one. Level playing field!
