Angie on Newsnight failing to answer simple questions about her CGT liabilities. Utterly unconvincing ( to be polite about it).

the "flag is used by everybody, it is a unifier, it doesn't need to be changed".
He said: "We just need to be proud of it. So I think they should just reconsider this and change it back.
"I'm not even sure they properly can explain why they thought they needed to change in the first place."
The Labour leader also called on Nike to reduce the price of the shirts.
Hard to believe he let him self get dragged into such a non-issue. Whatever did he think he was going to achieve?

Probably trying to appeal to the flag shaggers who seem to have lost their minds over a small detail on a football shirt.

Don’t remember any fuss in 2011 when they did something similar the country is regressing it seems.

How did she fail to answer it?

What you mean is you didn’t like the answer.

Answered in the thread on the subject (hadn't realised it was there).

I hadn't seen that before but a cursory read suggests that is loophole in the system & that no rules have been broken.

It doesn't make me happy (at all) & even more so because it would seem she is not alone in this.

The Telegraph quotes that there at least 8 more MPS doing the same *(and I would be surprised if it was as few as that).

IPSA need to try and address this and change the rules to stop it but that will be quite difficult when you think about it. For example, if an MP owns a property in London that they rent out then he/she could just gift that property to their spouse. Problem solved.

That is somewhat different to the question of whether the person who aspires to be deputy PM is telling porkie pies about her tax affairs.

The amount of money involved is irrelevant & I could quite believe she would have been ignorant of the rules at the time, that's not the problem. The problem is whether she is telling the truth now & so far what she has said is very unconvincing.

Absolutely comedy gold.

Angela Rayner didn't break any rules either.

And the Police, and the tax expert she employed and the fact HMRC aren’t investigating it

It would not be a Police matter, we have no idea who the tax "expert" is and I'm not aware that HMRC have said anything on the issue (but by all means point to a link if you have one).

She was investigated by the police - nothing to answer for.

Why should you know who the tax expert is.

How can i get a link for something that doesn’t exist? If you think they are inspecting her you provide the link.

Lots of straw clutching going on here

The police investigation was into a somewhat spurious issue about whether she broke electoral rules. The police do not get involved in tax matters of this sort.

For all you know the tax "expert" was her neighbour's dog. Between that and the fact that what she says does not seem to square with tax law in the first place she's leaving unanswered questions on the table. You / she / we would be the last people to know if HMRC were investigating but I have no doubt she would cheerfully publish a letter from them stating that they had done so and there was no case to answer......

Labour may have been enjoying a winning streak in the polls, though they might not be so pleased with the latest survey carried out for Times Radio. It revealed that a made up Labour frontbencher was better known amongst the public than Labour’s actual frontbenchers including, Debbonaire, Thomas-Symonds and Reynolds. Maybe that’s why they’ve been doing so well in the polls…

“Fiona Wilson” had 47% of people recognising her, and 15% of people thinking of her “favourably“. Shame for Starmer that the popular frontbencher isn’t real.
