To spell it out the police have said they're not investigating because HMRC haven't advised anything to investigate. Yet.
That's not what it says in the article.

"The Manchester Evening News understands that GMP has now carried out an investigation into the formal complaint and found no evidence of any offences."

The Police won't get involved in anything to with HMRC either, why would they?
That article is incorrect.

The police haven't investigated her according to every other publication it appeared in.
Because theyve found no evidence of wrongdoing

Laughable, an EA and a Conveyancing solictor do not provide "expert tax advice"
Not one person has claimed they do.

I'm not really interested in whether she made a mistake through ignorance or in the amount of money involved, , that would be no surprise and entirely forgivable (provided she rectified it).
But she has rectified it, and yet you're still making personal attacks.

And why your lies? What makes you so intent on seeing into her personal life? Does she intimidate you?
How has she rectified it?

This really is a bizarre line of questioning
Shes rectified it by getting expert advice.

What do you want her to do, complain to hmrc herself?

This investigation has been started by the same journo that nailed Zahawi AFAIK (Niedl?)

She claims to have got expert advice but then she also claims to have resided somewhere where plenty of people (her neighbours) appear to cast doubt on that.

As above, the point is not the sums involved or that it happened at all, the point is whether she is telling the truth about it now and she is doing nothing to answer that question, just digging the hole even deeper.

The next week or so could be quite interesting on this one. Suggest we wait & see what happens next because I don't think this is going to die quietly, much as she would like it to.

Wasn’t it started by a Tory MP?

What do you think is going to happen next?

I think that the MP in question jumped on the bandwagon and went down the route of whether she had broken electoral rules (which he referred to the police). AFIUI the tax thing came from Niedl originally (who is not known for his love of the Tory party).

A range of things might happen, some of that will depend on whether the media let it go or not. I doubt you would hear anything from HMRC, they don;t move that fast ! hehe

Its going to get politicised but she is fair game just as every other politician is. Its clearly something Starmer will want put to bed so some of the pressure may come from him. If he thinks it has legs he may even use it to force her aside. I can't see it being let go though, the answers she has given leave too many unanswered questions.

We will see.

She's taken expert tax advice and found nothing is required.

You still haven't answered the questions about your obvious prejudice. Why?

Zahawi wasn't nailed by a Journo. I've already quoted the police investigation that was already underway on Zahawi.

You're clearly suffering some sort of confusion.

SHe says she has expert advice (but nobody else has seen it).

As to my interest, if she's a lying mare then I'd rather she was exposed as such. If she's not then no doubt it will be easy for her to prove that and nothing to see here.

At the moment my money is on the former.

I could ask the same question though (as to why the righteous indignation to defend her?)

But now the story is out, it would be sensible for Ms Rayner to speak to a tax adviser and work out what her CGT position in 2015 actually was. If it turns out she failed to pay a small amount of CGT, I think most people would understand that as a mistake – but it’s a mistake she can and should explain and correct.

I was a home care worker, you know, I didn't have an accountant. I had, as most people would: you put your house on the market, you get a legal conveyancing solicitor and you get an estate agent.

But since those allegations were put to me, I got expert tax advice to make sure that I hadn't done anything wrong.
I'm struggling with the idea this is going to be exposed as some massive deliberate fraud (just give it time, you'll see hehe) rather than what looks like at worse a mistake.

You may see it as defending her, if shes done something wrong then she should face the consequences

You are correct, however what Niedl did was expose that the investigation was ongoing, without which we may never have known about it and that is largely what brought Zahawi down.

Nobody is arguing that she should be strung up for what happened, the issue is what she is doing about it now.

(She was also not a careworker when she sold the house, that has been debunked, she was a union organiser and Labour candidate)

You are strange fellow. If she's a lying mare will you be happy to see her in Government?

I make no secret of the fact that I think she's uninformed, and generally out of her depth not to mention full of bile ( and therefore a danger to the common good). If she adds lying mare to the list then full house!

Neidle hasn't anything to do with this other than give his opinion some days after it came out in the papers - and it seemed to have been reluctantly.

The original source of the allegations, from memory, was Lord Ashcroft's biography on her.
