They're reporting 5 dead not sure if that includes the terrorist but he's dead too.

Some pretty horrible stuff on Twitter including someone standing at the top of an escalator holding the fker back with what looks like a bollard.

5 dead including a child, plus the attacker.
Free Palestine was mentioned according to twitter. Whether that’s true I dunno.

What a surprise. It seems that some groups are incompatible with western civilisation and values.

Hasn't this happened in Australia before?

Sad as they are so far away from the Middle East yet certain people believe that they must be punished frown

Dude looks like a disgruntled aussie rules fan to be honest.

Certainly not the typical dress of a jihadist.

Guy fending him off with a bollard pretty brave.

Unfortunately, his actions were not typical of an Australian Rules football fan. I don't think muslim terrorists are obliged to dress in typical muslim garb

Proximity to the Middle East has absolutely nothing to do with anything.

Police on tv right now have said they now who the stabbed is, and that whilst he is known to police this is not considered a terrorist incident.

Federal police: 'Too early to make assessment' on motivation
We're expecting to hear the latest details from a state police agency press conference shortly, but before that, here are the latest lines from the Australian federal police.

Federal officers confirmed just recently during the prime minister's press conference that New South Wales police are the lead investigators in this incident, but they are receiving support from federal authorities too.

Australian Federal Police Commissioner Cr Reece Kershaw stressed during that press briefing that federal police were assisting state police in New South Wales with the investigation and had deployed specialists.

When asked by reporters if there could be "any terrorist motivation" in the attack, the commissioner has said that his agency and other law agencies had determined "it's too early to give that assessment".
6 dead now. 9 month old in surgery.

Does not include the murderer.
