yes that horse is broken and leaking.
Straight to hell for that one! hehe

Unfortunately true though, and given how badly horses heal it doesn't look good. frown
It was lame when it briefly pulled up on one shot I saw - not surprisingly, but as long as there aren't any actual breaks I'd hope it will be OK.

"Noise from builders caused horses to bolt". Must've been pretty bloody loud!
Horses are dicks; just looking at a discarded crisp packet flapping about the wrong way can send them off.
You could say the same thing about people and refugees.

Very upsetting news. Horses should no longer be used by the military.

Or as pets. Or for racing. Or police.

Keep them for logging and traffic calming in the New Forest.

if it jerked any harder and faster you'd probably be needing some ACL surgery on that knee of yours.

You could, but it's a bit of an unrelated stretch on a thread about horses. Just because it's in NPE doesn't mean it has to be about immigration, Tories, Rayner, Diane Abbott, GB news, Boris, or Trump.

I hope the horses and riders are ok - really surprised they can be spooked so badly. The op said they were being chased by a car with sirens - doesn't sound the best decision to calm spooked horses.

Just seen this - the guy who calmly approached the black horse did so well. The bus had so much damage frown

If the blood is from an artery and therefore freshy oxygenated it will tend to appear a much brighter red than de-oxygenated blood.
If the blood is from an artery I wouldn't expect the horse to be running for long.

Oh, this thread got moved to NP&E and now it appears to have attracted some very interesting/concerning views.

What a shame.

Anyone else see this? Was walking to work this morning by Canon Street and two horses with saddles but no riders came charging through traffic, being chased by an undercover police car with sirens on.

White horse had red all down them, thought it might be paint but videos on Twitter looks like blood

Looks like they came from near The strand and they’ve got as far as Limehouse tunnel so far.

Interesting start to the morning.
I'm not a horse expert but I would have thought that chasing a frightened horse through busy streets with sirens blaring would not do much to improve their mood.

No but probably helps people to take notice there's a steak missile inbound.

Anyone else think that the poor white horse is covered in paint.

I'm no vet, but I can't see an obvious wound that would cause so much mess.

And as others have said, I can't imagine them being spooked by a loud noise.

They are often around cannons being fired, and rifles.
I'm not an expert on horse blood, but to me it looked too bright for blood. I'd have expected something darker if it was caused by a wound.
Well oxygenated and with plenty of pressure behind it no doubt due to the exertion and stress.

My sister was RHA so knows military horses very well. It's not unusual for them to get spooked and unseat riders, this is obviously a very an extreme example.

Putting the distressing nature of the incident aside some of the picture look amazing (probably the wrong word), like they're out of a film. The elegance and drama I suppose.

I hope everything turns out OK. I've worked in Westminster for neatly 40 years and for me, the Household Cavalry are the single best thing to see in London. And tourists love them too.
