Hi all

This is my first post in here, some interesting stuff.

I can just remember the beginning of the Thatcher/Major Government and can clearly recall it's end.

My point is, I seem to recall it finishing in a vaguely comedic fashion with sleazy MPs getting caught at all sorts of dubious behaviour.

This lot however seems to be much, much worse. Every day they are screwing something up; databases getting lost, MOD spending cuts having appaling outcomes, the NHS spiralling out of control and general uselessness to tackle any aspect of government properly.

What do people think, is this goverment really going out in more of a mess than usual?

What worries me more is how terrible the state of the country's economy will be in once they have left. Because I have little doubt they will set in motion other things so that when the Conservatives get in they won't be able to rectify it quickly so that the scum may get in after just one election. But I hope people will have long enough memories.

The European Elections take place on June 4. That would be an excellent opportunity to give Labour an electoral kicking.

It actually ended because Major was distinctly average 'old school' and Blair was a deadly, aggressive opponent who understood the power of the media.

This lot is indeed much worse. However in their 12 years of power, the electorate has changed to one of submissive indifference - and the Conservatives are a woeful opposition. Cameron should be up at the desptach box kicking Brown's arse mercilessly day after day (just as Blair did to Major over 'sleaze' - the first NuLab soundbyte) - but he is not, and so Labour continue to escape.

I believe that Labour has done irreversible damage to the country - and the wonder is that so few people have realised.

The problem with them getting a June drubbing, is that labour may kick Brown out before the general election. That would deprive Cameron of his greatest electoral asset.

We just have to hope that enough people have enough cells remaining to tick the right box then...... All we really need is for those who would normally vote Labour to not want to miss Jeremy Kyle so not go out................

I said on here an awfully long time ago that this Government would implement a "scorched earth" policy for whoever came next, as they realised it would not be them.

They are currently scraping as much for themselves as they possibly can, to tide them through the wilderness that they will have to endure.

I would like to think that the next Government will, en masse, revoke 90% of the laws passed by the previous lot, as unfit for purpose.

Some chance.

What worries me is that in the death throes of the Major government, the media indulged in a vicious and gleeful feeding frenzy at every faux pas and every morsel of sleaze. This lot have been systematically sleazy from the start, yet the media never jump on it and rag it to death as they did with the Tories - primarily because most of them are cut from the same cloth as the government. If a Conservative government had done half the things this governent has, there would have been a media massacre. But no.

I remember Hague been elected as Tory top man, way to early in his career he was fairly young and a BALDY! smile looked a bit of a tit.

Hague has matured and the cap NOW fits and as such much more statesmen like.
As for Boris! Well I'm a bit of a fan boy smile

Top team, bring in that Dan Hannan as well. IMHO

Bloody hell! That is so true - all I can think of are these slimy little toerags given their peerships (is that a word?) for their bent dealings for and even more bent government.

The thing is that with this lot they are busy fiddling the books, changing the laws etc and just sticking two fingers up at the rest of us. They know that we know and they are saying "so fking what?".

The Conservatives "sleaze" was a drop in the ocean compared to these wkers, but at the same time if they made a few quid then we all made a few quid too.

I've often thought that running a country is like running a business, like a shop. Would you let a load of beardie communists run a shop?

Since I started this I'll weigh back in.

Whoever made the comment about the media jumping on the Major Govt.'s back was spot on.

I have been saying for years that the media is running this country.

Does anyone think an incoming Government will have the stones to actually fly in the face of what the Guardian/BBC wants?

I don't

I don't
I think the BBC will generally support whoever's in power. The Guardian is completely irrelevant to anybody who isn't left wing. Now the Murdoch press is another matter.

You can't have a Labour Government without a Conservative one previously to fund it..

(They'll all line their pockets by the way)
