I socialise and spend time with Muslims - I dislike the extreme elements, but please don't put words in my mouth as even my friends would find that hilarious.

For the last time I'm not sikh, you seem obsessed with trying to make that point - what is it with you and sikhs? Do you have an agenda?

Brexit should show you what the population thinks and that is what I base my view on - reality is many substituted the immigration word for Muslims.

Until you face the reality, how do you tackle the problem?
You've openly said you dislike Muslims and that you're Sikh. That's why I used the example of a turban.

Do I have an agenda re Sikh's? No, one of my best mates is Sikh......
You're just making things up - please show a quote (without changing the context) of these 2 things - as unless I have had an identity crisis coupled with amnesia I'm sure I know what religion (if any) I am.

Clown.

People can argue the toss re dress code, the reality is the typical westerner greatly dislikes Muslims. This is the case across Western Europe.

You cannot force someone to like you - times will be hard for Muslims, just like it can be hard for westerners in the Middle East, but perception is 'they' bought it on themselves.

I for one think a move to a more secular society would be a better thing.
More secular? rofl

Have you seen the news lately, it's all one religion knocking bits off the other. Religion has no place being taught as fact in a civilised society.
Hence why it think a MOVE to a MORE secular society would be advantageous.

Seriously? Despite numerous terrorist attacks linked (perhaps spuriously) in one way or another to Muslims you really think it's an extreme view for the ordinary westerner to dislike them? That's kind of like Camerons's ignorance of popular feeling on Brexit or Blair's famous 'despite invading the country we're no more susceptible to terrorist attacks' naivete.
Yes seriously. It's the logic of terminally stupid to blame all muslims for the actions of the few. It would be as stupid as to 'greatly dislike' the Irish people because of the actions of IRA.
WHOOOOOOSH
No, no woosh. Everything above stands.

Again, source of your research please? Just because you think it, or state it, doesn't make it so.

I work in an office full of "typical" westerners, and we have a good proportion of Muslims (Engineering, "they" all seem to make good engineers). They are not hated, put down, or considered scum/terrorists/dangerous. In fact I've just (yesterday) sent out a job offer letter to a lovely young Muslim lady who was far and away the best candidate we interviewed, she beat white British men and everything. You probably think I'm a traitor.

Edit: I note your profile is handily blank, which to me answers more questions about you than it raises.

Do you deliberately ignore the other posts I've made subsequent to allow you to get on a soap box, or is it just coincidence ?!

I am really confused.

You don't think his Irish analogy stands?
It's not great but it has some merit, doesn't it?

I'm all for a discussion and debate, but it's simply not right to make things up about what people have said !!!

It's not relevant. I alluded to his naivete when I asked the question did he seriously think the only people who objected to Muslims were members of an extreme political party. For totally misunderstanding the question and failing to provide an adequate answer he was parroted. Twice. I'd still like an answer... .

OK, Christianity it is then.

Fret not. As Dawkins said, the Catholic church are trying to move away from the concept of a Hell these days. Now it's all about Purgatory.

I guess they finally got tired of scaring little kids senseless after 2 millennia. That or they realised that nobody was swallowing it anymore. smile

his analogy seems good to me. Terrorist attacks on mainland UK used to be carried out by extremist catholic separatists. I don't recall any backlash against catholics. I don't even recall the terrorists being described as catholics.

Now if the IRA were a different colour ......

Can't see how anyone can defend this but not surprised to see the PH racists out in force doing exactly that.

It's a fascist policy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the burkini and the ability to wear what you wish is a western value. Genuinely disgusted a European nation has decided to do this.

Pal, haven't you heard? Racism isn't a problem these days, they just want to have a debate. hehe PH needs its own National Front section.

Not sure why there's such a furore. The woman knew the law and chose to flaunt it. You can't blame the Nice French for the knee-jerk reaction of banning certain clothing after that awful terrorist attack. The new law is a bit unsubtle, but so is driving a lorry through hundreds of people.
What is this total nonsense? For fk's sake man, can you really not see what the fuss is about? French towns have implemented fascist, racist laws which target women of a certain background. Of course you can blame them, all this does is make terrorist attacks more likely as you're sending a clear message to Muslims they are hated and will be arbitrarily punished despite doing nothing wrong.

The law is the law attitude is such a load of st as well. Can we not get angry at certain laws? Homosexuality is punishable by death in some Arabic states, bet you don't think "well the law is the law" as far as that is concerned, do you?

This is a horrible, horrible law and it needs changing immediately. What kind of society have we become when we criminalise people simply for covering their bodies in sandy areas?

I'm shocked. Are you suggesting that those who voted for Brexit did so because they don' like muslims?
I wouldn't be surprised if a fair number of them took that into consideration. I doubt it's clear cut though. People I spoke to weren't overly bothered about the Polish workers. It was the migrants from France they didn't want here.
