Probably because 99% of them drift away from the original topic into the same old discussions...

You seem to close an awful lot of threads that feature the word "Muslim".

Why?
Because the drift off topic and become a general discussion of the rights and wrongs of Islam.
That's been made perfectly clear numerous times.

Why?
Because he's biased. Work it out.

I'll also heed his warning. Lots of posts were deleted from yesterday because it became the usual let's have a pop at Muslims fare.

I'm a touch miffed that I had figures thrown at me to discredit my position that aren't correct, yet it looks like I couldn't back it up, when I could and did.

Either take it back to the root or allow considered reply.

Fully agree about thread drift though.

If there's one religion that deserves having a poke at it's paganism. Oops, I quite like pagans. They got on with people and the planet :-)

I wonder how PwC feels about telling women how to dress?

They're very upset about what their subcontractors did. Obviously.

Fair point. So I assume there are no other women who feel they need to dress in an attractive fashion at work? Or men who feel they need to comply to some code or other? (As has perhaps been said in this thread.) Just highlighting the nonsense that surrounds cultural pressure and the need to fit-in.

Dress codes at work are not on a par with the burkini ban in the slightest but I agree they're ridiculous and arbitrary and should change. Fortunately that is happening as my generation start to run more and more businesses.

I agree - they are not on a par. But people seem to have the habit of thinking that their culture's "rules" are reasonable, and other cultures "rules" are not. When one of my Swedish nieces was over in England aged about 4 she pointed from the car at a young fella and said "Is he going to a wedding?". It was just a bloke in a suit and tie going to work. smile Luckily, I'm a civil servant and we seem to have wised up when it comes to clothing in the last few years. We're a bit more Swish, I guess. Though even for us, I'm not sure we've quite got the idea of winter versus summer clothes for men.

..and that's the crux of the issue.

Burkini on KSA's beaches - rock on (private cove with bodyguards preferred)
Burkini on France's beaches - they don't appear to like it.

Bikini on France's beaches - rock on.
Bikini on KSA's beachers - not so good.

Most threads drift off topic.

Go to General Gassing and start a thread about Astons and within a few posts people will be talking about Corvettes. It is the way of the world.

If every thread that drifted off topic got locked, then the site would die.

And when I wore beach shorts and a vest to my mate's wedding, people got in a huff. It was a really hot day, for heck's sake. furious

If they drifted into the same old same old about Islam, sky fairies and burkas the site would deserve to die.

Surely you could find a better phrase for discussing Islamic and Saudi attitudes to women than "rock on"?

Aren't we just commenting on them, not interfering? Or should we cease discussing the laws of any foreign country?
