Have lots of floorspace on the lower levels makes perfect sense for the cheesegrater when you think about who its tenants are likely to be and the nature of their business right in the middle of the City.

the pinnacle will never get built the finance is fked.

also the way the core is built it's very hard to change the expensive design into something cheaper to build.

Anyone else disappointed by the end result?
Yup, it's rubbish. Makes you wonder who had the "right connections" to get it through the planning process. But we're stuck with it now!
Somewhere near the start of the thread I expressed my opinion that I thought it was a pointless waste of money, a blot on the landscape etc. I was shot down in flames for not having enough vision blah blah.

Just saying. whistle

HAd meetings over by this today and wow; just wow!

Nice sunny glimpses and brilliant photo op (if I had joined in and taken one) from outside the E&Y offices. Absolutely stunning.

Am now in two thoughts about the 'unfinished' shards at the top though smile

From a train at London bridge platform 6 on Tuesday. Signs of urban decay already there..

That's pretty much the same photo as I have on my phone (Liverpool St Station)

So won't bother posting it.

Gives me more time to work out how to do it. Cheers smile

Edit to say London Bridge not Liverpool St. Whoops.

I was working on top of the Heron Tower when I took this as a storm was rolling in. It was back in April and I can't remember if I had already posted it.

The shard looks most dramatic when a storm is shrouding the top in cloud, or it's sunny, and the faces are lit up like a Christmas tree.

Speaking of cloud shrouding the top,I took this last week, you'd be pretty pissed off if you'd pre-booked your day at the top and the weather was like this.

The Design ethos would make sense then.
Not for a couple of years now. Mass Effect is the current game of choice in the Herald maison. biggrin

Starting to go off the walkie talkie, the lovely bronze frame structure is slowly being covered by a sheet of glass with no features.Afraid it may turn out bland.

Would be better with the glass covering each floor with structure between IMO.

You know, for £25 this sounds like a decent experience...

This shot (which my son took for me), reminds of the film "Quartermass and the pit", when the demons rise up towards the end.

horrible weather, I wonder if at the top it's poking out the fog, or just covered in it...
