Hides it's size very well, that, and looks good from most angles. Top marks to the architect. Not that hopeful for the Shard, TBH, I suspect it'll be an eyesore.

i cant see the pictures. i assume its still pyramid shaped? so its going to cost more than a standard square tower, with 1/3 the floor space. i like the design but this development is a bancrupcy waiting to happen... i'd love to see what projections for office/residential prices they are using!

Blimey, this is getting surreal, I did the ground radar surveys and utility detection on this site too.I knew something big was happening but never followed my nose to find out what it was.I know I wasn't allowed to work alone there for fears over my safety!

Considering all the empty office space in London what's the logic for building more space?

I'm glad all these new buildings are being given the green light, means more work for me! Now if only I could find a job at the moment.

There's less vacant office space since records began apparently, rents are on the up.

A couple of months ago I was working near Aldgate tube where a new block is going up, around the corner (by the bus station for those that know the area )there is a bloody great empty block, I think it's called the the Minories.

Next to my hotel on the Albert Embankment there is a bloody great empty block.

As I wander it seems there are a fair few empty buildings.

I don't like the look of that at all. That classic picture taken from a park of the trees in the foreground and Canary Wharf just popping over them in the horizon is great. With all these new projects it will look just like any other big city, completely losing its character IMO.

who wants a skyline of dull, featureless boxes?

RPI has come down loads so the build will in fact be chewaper than when the cost plan was approved, besides which it's not that much of a techincal challenge so the build itself is pretty straighforward

just hope the overcome the gherkin glazing issues
