Canary Wharf becomes just another tall building in that picture - nothing special - which is fine because I've never been happy with that place representing whats 'biggest' in the UK.

Strata at Elephant and Castle is nearing completion too.

Hides it's size very well, that, and looks good from most angles. Top marks to the architect. Not that hopeful for the Shard, TBH, I suspect it'll be an eyesore.

Agreed - Strata looks good to me - had an excellent view from the LWT building this week, really like the design.

The shard is hideous IMO, totally lacking in imagination, just looks unpleasant and aggressive.

Counting the pyramids? Dozens.

Besides, unique does not = imaginative.

other than the fact that it has a point, no

I'll get back to you on that.

The other point still stands though, just because something is original (not saying the shard is) does not automatically make it attractive.

baby ark is quite cool, and often overlooked (well you can't see it from the flyover)

I was thinking that.

We love to follow the Yanks like lemmings, but building loads of twin towers... ah well, never did like the smoke 'cept for in the 60s (then it WAS really alive!!)

Yep, hence the over-engineered structure in its place now. Quite a landmark!
