Folks, I seem to remember some time ago reading something about some survey saying 97% of climate scientists believing in AGW... but in fact it was something about 97% of those who bothered to reply believed it, but that was only 35% questioned, or something like that.

Is that correct, did I imagine it (I can't go and read all the threads again, life's too short smile), if so, any links to the story?

Cheers
(Keep up the good work smile)

"Facing a barrage of questions from the media about his `loss of credibility’, Pachauri maintained that all “rational people” would continue to repose their faith in IPCC and its findings.

Holy st. I'm not sure if they think we are so stupid that they can get away with statements like that or they are absolutely fking mental.

This isn't about numbers of experts - not all of whom agree with IPCC-speak anyway - but it is an important document in terms of IPCC credibility, or rather the lack of it. I've posted it several times before but do so again here as new readers are always welcome smile

Is that a direct quote?

Did he actually say "Faith"?

That would be classic if he did smile

I caught Gordon Brown on TV doing his monthly press conference.

He was asked a direct question about the IPCC report and how can it be trusted.
This got one reporter to give one of those "Looks", you know how the Faithful look down at anybody who questions the faith!

Anyway, G B said the consensus of experts is enough to carry on with the target to stop +2DegC increase target.

So I do hope DC and the Conservatives are canvassing ALL THE REAL EXPERTS and Scientist to blow this lot out of the water before May 6th!!

ETA -PS Movies24 - Disaster movie about global freezing on at the moment! As believable as the IPCC!

Well, he might mean it more in terms of believing in the IPCC and it's integrity etc rather than faith in MMGW..

But with them, either option is possible. Both are wrong !

Anyone watching channel 4 'Britains big freeze' on now?

I'm expecting a Met office interview soon perahps with some gulf stream propaganda. Just had the 'drive 5 miles less' advert during the break.

About as credible as Gore's "Apocalypse Soon" movie with it's 20' sea level rise!

I Like this off the Delingpole Blog smile

"Would this be the same amazon forest that was intensively managed and farmed by Amazonian Indians before Columbus with vast swathes cut down to grow crops.
There was an incredible civilization there before disease destroyed it. It seems to have made a nice comeback for all that. So the idea that climate change can effect the amazonian rain forest is a joke. However the amazonian rain forest can affect climate over hundreds of years.
"

He's not wrong
But surely MacDonalds are taking care of that!

Joking aside and on a related (but slightly smaller scale!) matter I've been trawling back through stuff on Gore ('cos I love and respect him so much) and came across this gem from Monckton's rebuttal following the court case

http://scienceandpublicpolicy.org/monckton/goreerr...

"A well-established tree very close to the Maldivian shoreline and only inches above sea level was recently uprooted by Australian environmentalists anxious to destroy this visible proof that sea level cannot have risen very far."

Thanks TB, I must have missed that one, there's a lot of stuff to read! Yes, knocking IPCC credibility was what I was looking for. smile

As for being a new reader, I'm hardly that wink. I must have bookmarked most GW threads and have been reading these discussions from the beginning here on PH smile. I don't post much as I have nothing of value to add.

I must say it's been interesting over the years, watching people come and go, as they run out of arguments. It's particularly fun at the moment to see the wheels falling off all over the place. smile

So, with the fight running out of steam over here now Ludo, NigelFR, Hairy gone, with only Airbag and Kerplunk hanging on, desperately scraping the barrel for the odd something, anything, however feeble, to convince us the IPCC are right after all, and failing dismally... I thought I might do some good work on another forum that I last visited about 2 1/2 years ago. Then, I could hardly get a word in without the resident arrogant, sanctimonious believer, shouting down and calling everyone with a different opinion an idiot (bit like dear old Dr JonboyG... remember him?) and always quoting realclimate as gospel, in between sticking their tongue up Michael Mann's posterior. It's a shame but I believe he may have been banned from the boards now, but oh my, how things have changed in the last three months smile Still, I might go and stick the boot in anyway smile

Perhaps we should set up an AGW memorial wall with the names of the fallen on?

Cheers

It was a tough choice with the 'new readers' comment as there is no irony smiley smile even though there are, apparently, new punctuation marks springing up...

'Save The Planet Panel'? No thanks!

"The UN IPCC has been heavily criticised for erroneous projections. In the following editorial, climate researchers Richard Tol, Roger Pielke and Hans von Storch call for a reform of the IPCC and the resignation of its Chairman, Rajendra Pachauri."

"Anthropogenic Global Warming is rapidly morphing into the greatest scandal in the history of science since the belief in a flat earth – and people had a lot more excuses for that. Not that the Obama administration is even beginning to acknowledge it. Who knows what they say to each other behind the scenes? They have enough to worry about."

He did that programme 'The British Isles: A natural history' where he talked about ice ages and all the changes that occurred naturally through the centuaries. So he's less likely to be taken in by all this 'unprecedented' guff - I reckon he's only saying he still 'believes CO2 emmissions aren't helping' so he doesn't get labelled a crank by the media and lose future work...! scratchchin
