Am I alone in thinking there has been a huge miscarriage of justice and they have both been the victim of Italian police incompetence and both ave been set up?

The evidence heard today was certainly interesting. I believe some independent experts confirmed that it was "highly likely" that the DNA evidence was contaminated.Am I alone in thinking there has been a huge miscarriage of justice and they have both been the victim of Italian police incompetence and both ave been set up?

There's a lot of blind faith on DNA evidence such that it has almost magical powers in Court, the truth is something else. Those who are responsible for determining cases, juries or judiciary, need educating prior to deliberating.

Like what did you mean?
Well Im presuming with your statement above that you have been well versed in the latest and greatest knowledge with regards to DNA.As to the latest knowledge, it's not been part of my professional repertoire for a number of years as my career took a change of direction but I do make an effort to keep up - so I'd like to think I'm reasonably abreast of developments rather than a tit, but titness is relative just like greatness of knowledge.
HTH.

for god's sake, the techniques they use for DNA detection are so powerful - few MOLECULES of DNA on an object can be detected and sequenced/matched with someone... contamination is so incredibly likely that you can't use a DNA match on an object as reliable evidence. Use Psychology said:

DNA evidence doesn't often sit alone and taken with other information the weight attached to it can increase but it's still an area of concern with people who have seen too much CSI (LV, M, NY).
One undeniable benefit of DNA evidence is its potential ability to reveal miscarriages of justice, where individuals have been wrongly convicted.
I'm no expert in the italian judicial system, I expect it has its flaws like many others but from what I've seen and heard there seems to be a reasonable amount of doubt about the main piece of prosecution evidence.
if that is enough to quash the conviction then imho it should be.
I also read that if either acquitted or convicted there could yet be 1 more appeal?!!
I just hope justice is done. I think personally it would take a fair amount of convincing evidence to suggest a young woman could do this crime...
call me idealistic...I know crimes of passion etc etc happen..

i don't understand how three people, tried separately, can all be guilty.
Group sex game gone wrong/with an unwilling participant, is how I understand the prosecution's case explains it.More info here:

There's circumstantial evidence and her inconsistent alibi and behaviour that point towards here having been involved, but for me that's all they do.
There certainly is a reasonable doubt to my mind, but I don't think it's as clear cut as the American media are making it out to be.
