In the lead up to the 2005 Election Michael Howard said the Tories would withdraw from the 1951 United Nations Convention on refugees, which obliges us to accept people being persecuted on the basis of need, not numbers.

Will Cast Iron Dave match this pledge I wonder? He'd certainly get a lot more votes if he did but I doubt this would fit in with his new, cudly, likeable image of the Tory party he is trying to highlight.

Presumably they would have to prove they were gay, otherwise anyone would be allowed in so long as the mince around a bit.
Could you imagine the gay test they would have to go through....biggrin

But, if they get to the UK and destroy their 'papers', it's "game over" unless something else confirms their identity or nationality. They're here to stay!
Not really, to get to the UK they must first get onto some form of transport in some other EU country.
This means we can send them back to that EU country as we already know that they must have passed though that country.
Unless they simply get on a plane........................
Don't you have to apply for asylum prior to boarding the plane? (someone is welcome to correct me)

What's wrong with that? Reasonable enough stance to take, surely.
Because every single African who turns up here will just say I'm gay and we will have to give them asylum.

You still think its a good idea? We are full
Are you trying to suggest that people will lie?

Next you'll be telling me that some people don't tell the truth when they claim benefits.

As to the actual story, FFS, is he trying to ensure he loses the election or what? Has Brown had Cameron murdered and replaced him with a Robot designed to say all the wrong things?!?!

According to the govt website, you can claim asylum at the airport, where your case will be evaluated, if you qualify you stay, if you don’t its back on the next plane...................... I can see a large number of people recovering from their homosexuality as soon as their feet hit the other side of the airport exit

All our leaders appear to have lost the plot. When can we have a leader who will do whats right for our country and our people?

Poll backs UKIP's burka ban

Monday, 1st February 2010

TWO out of three people believe burkhas should be banned in public, it was revealed last night.

A survey suggests that the veil, worn by some Muslim women, is unpopular in Britain with 64 per cent of people believing it should be illegal to wear it in public places like banks and airports.

I would rather have a wasted vote, and have a clear conscience by knowing I actually voted for what I believed in, than vote for a marginally diluted version of the Blair administration, with all the spin, shallow promises and lies that go with it.

It is quite clear to me what Cameron’s background is, and he relies totally on presentation and saying what the majority want to hear – he is bereft of any conviction and seemingly has no political balls – kind of the polar opposite of Thatcher.

I cannot and will not vote for an administration as shallow and as cowardly as the current Tory party – wasted vote or not.

The vast majority of politicians, once elected, wont put a foot outside of political circles for fear of a: being out of the limelight b: having to justify something to the electorate in person and with the very real chance of being beaten with the nearest heavy blunt object and finaly c: becuase they dont have to for another 4 years, at which time you may catch a fleeting glimpse of them in their constituency...............there is a good and rather simple reason almost every single one of them has their main home in London

Doesn’t seem to matter what the colour of their tie is, all seem to do the same thing, apart from the independents and the fringe parties (UKIP, BNP, Green) who are small enough to still have to engage with people on a grass roots level

It gets worse if they are in power, where they can’t go anywhere without a police escort and the world seems to only smell of fresh paint!

The trouble is that many of us here actually believe that a Cameron government would not be any better than Brown's shower. Some however would take it further and say a Cameron victory would be even worse than the status quo because it would delay the arrival of a properly led conservative government.

Yes we all know UKIP don't have a chance of victory but if certain key Conservatives defect to UKIP this would make thngs very interesting.

If this does not happen and Cameron wins then the real cure for Britain's woes may take a very long time to come about so what we need is a very slim Labour majority leading to Cameron, Boy Geroge and co being sacked and another election which brings in a proper Conservative government.

The problem with having labour in power in any shape or form after June, is that we may not have an opportunity to vote again on a UK parliment, the devolution of power by 2014-15 maybe so great that only insurecton / revolution would make any real difference and you'd have to be a dribling idiot to think that would have a positive outcome irrespective of the result

The transport policy alone should make them the party of choice for this site.

Which is why I'm now going to vote UKIP (even though labour will win this seat anyway) as I'm agreeing with their policies more and more compared to the CMD ones now
