Remember those posters on bus stops telling people to phone up and report 'suspicious' people, like those going about their normal business? Well, they obviously didn't do the trick so they have added radio adverts now:

Remember the interview with the old lady in THe Nazis - A Warning From History? As a young 18 year old girl she had reported her neighbour to the Gestapo because she thought the neighbour was a bit odd - and probably un-German.

She thought that was only doing her civic duty - but the neighbour disappeared into a concentration camp and was never seen again.

Check that one out. Its like saying "so you don't want to live in a police state? Then vote conservative".

The irony is, its a Labour Party advertisement!

There is another advert as well that goes along the lines

'The guy next to you at work is always looking at aerial photographs because he says that he is looking to buy a house in the area, he has a couple of lockup units because he says it has some of his mothers belongings he cannot let go ........' etc

Divide and conquer.
Power through fear.

A fearful, divided population is a weak, controlled population. The more those in power can exaggerate the threat, build on our natural fears, make us suspect those around us, make us over-react to our differences, the more they can draw power to themselves.

When I flew to Paris from Birmingham all the adds in the airport where report benefit thieves, it did all look a little 70's communist.

I saw that "secure under watchful eyes" some time ago on another forum, and I asked if it was a "Banksy" piece. Sadly not. Very creepy campaign.

Due to all this mission creep big brother stuff, I find myself loathing any council employee in "uniform", yer know, enforcement types, bright yellow jackets, festooned with radios and equipment. The start of the new Stasi. UK style. ugh...

Stunned.

That poster is just mental. Did whoever created not think "hmm this looks a bit odd...like the ones from the Eastern Bloc and Communist Russia" Or maybe they were just being "retro"....sickening.

While it's probably a good idea to inform people about the anti-terrorist units, the advert stinks of paranoia and authoritarianism, to the point of it being quite creepy.

That's unbelievable. If you have concerns about CCTV/DNA, you must be a criminal? I never thought I'd see a government resort to such a cheap and idiotic strawman.

Perhaps thats what they aspire to the UK becoming?
No 'perhaps' about it!

There may be a lot of 'young bright things' on these threads, but you need an old head to realise a massive change has been taking place in this country.

WAKE UP!!!
We are 'already' sleepwalking straight into it.

Whenever I've been to london the announcments in tube stations were quite frequent. Also I saw a tourist taking a snap in the underground of a map just after they took it an annoucment came on saying flash photography is prohibited just made me realise how closely we're watched.

I don't know if it's just because an election is looming, or that I hate this government so much, but every other advert seems to a government backed one. Are you a middle class woman enjoying a glass of vino? You're drinking too much you alci! Has a darked skinned man been buying fertilizer? Shop him to the cops. Even now constant radio sdverts telling me if I sell my car to send off the V5. Just sod off you meddling shower of bds!
