Doh. Good luck with that.

Road Trip? Norway-Sweden-Denmark-Zeebrugge-Rosyth?

I'm happy enough actually, was due to go to a crappy all-day meeting tomorrow. I kinda hope the airport doesn't open at all today...

From what I've heard they reckon that this could close the airports for 2 days. I guess thats my meeting in London cancelled then.

Norwegian satellite animation, takes a minute or two to load.
The massive grey patch is volcanic ash, there'll be nothing flying anytime soon.

Paranoia I reckon. I watched a program about British Airways Flight 9, and once they glided out of the ash cloud having lost all the engines, they were able to restart all four of them. Although one stopped again a bit later on. And the windscreen was sandblasted to a nice privacy glass finish. Anyway, it was fine.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking. We have a small problem. All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them under control. I trust you are not in too much distress."

I have a problem on my machine and that page won't load. What does the cloud look like? (i.e. width/lenght?)

Nah I doubt it'll even be visible from the ground. I think it's at high althitude, the problem is that it fks with RADAR and I assume the dust can cause problems if ingested by turbines.

first thing i thought about too... was a program on Nat Geo last night. They were saying there is an underground volcano in california that pumps out 1000 tonnes of carbon per day!!

It would appear the ash cloud in getting down south now. We just cancelled 2 flights out of Farnborough! UK airspce is being predicited to be closed by lunchtime.

For safety reasons and on the direction from Air Traffic Control Service (Nats) a decision has been made to cancel a number of flights and close all London airports. As a result ALL airlines will be impacted and we will therefore not be able to operate services after 11.30am from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London City.
