Got that from the tone of one or two.

So, pitch forks and burning brands down the local. Chant will be back to the kitchen. After we have done the dishes of course.

Sorry if I'm coming across as a sexist, bitter Toad but I'm afraid when I work my baubles off & still get kicked in them, to see a young lady being rewarded for a smile and a laugh grates rather.
But who do you blame, the boss for failing to see beyond his own scrotum or the woman for using her natural talents to make up for other shortcomings?

For what it's worth though, I know exactly how you feel laugh

I have worked for one small start up and have friends who work in others, lets put it this way, there are very few female staff in any of those companies.

I feel its 70/30 to be honest. I can't believe that some bosses still think that all their female employees worship them and would never dream of taking advantage of certain situations. But let's face it, if I could take advantage of the system and some old mens sad fanatsies to earn the same amount of money yet still do something that society expected of me, I would. Especially, as in the cases I've seen, you wouldn't even need to sleep with the ugly git!!

Well if society wants worthwhile people who will work and contribute, it has to pay for them.

The alternative is to not pay and produce benefit claimants instead.

Your parents didn't pay the full cost of your health and education. When you came to use a car all you had to pay was a VED and suddenly you have access to a wonderful road network, all provided and paid for by others.

This is how society works.

Very good point. People moan when the unemployed breed and moan when workers breed. Hmm. scratchchin

Nhs is better than this, FD is appointed, fd three months later pregnant, now off. Deputy brought in to cover for FD at invreased salary, now preggers off, cover for the cover brought in now off preggers. The PCT will be going in two years so these three with a bit of stress etc will not have to work again and will all get redundancy at the rate they are on now. Good eh?

yikes Please tell me this isn't true. I thought my experiences were bad enough. If it is true my urine will be hot enough to strip paint.

My Dad got sued for firing a woman that got pregnant.
Although she was fking useless and that's why he fired her.
He was running a barely profitable business and in the end they went under anyway.

Do women really expect to be paid by a small business for doing feck all? I would feel terrible if I was going to take a year out and have some poor company front my bill.

Three places where I have worked, as I mentioned, this scenario has been played out as written almost word for word. It is almost has if they have classes at school where they learn this stuff.
Do you not remember sex education where the girls went off for their own 'special' lesson. What the hell did you think they learnt?

Oh what a yawn! Until Men and Woman are legally entitled to the same time and pay for looking after new babies, this age old debate will continue.

I mean what next? don't employ smokers (may die young) bikers (ohhh, its a bit dangerous). Get a grip!

Why don't contracts have a minimum period before you're entitled to maternity leave - or would that be illegal?

"All female employees are entitled to a minimum of 26 weeks Ordinary Maternity Leave regardless of how long they have worked for an employer. The 1 year's continuous employment period is not needed."

I would say have two kids as a freebie, that's human procreation and population stabilisation; any more and you're on your own though.

Then we are getting onto the type of line that could lead to a 2 child only rule think of China (ad one allowed). In my village most people have 3+ children,. 4 and 5 are prefectly normal, with one stay at home parent and one breadwinner (normally in the city!!) Some people can afford to have as many children as they would like these days.
