Do you think the fact that this chap was a cycling enthusiast who has never been known to have a girlfriend will reinforce blindswelledrat's opinions of cyclists?

btw the investigation is focussing on his :cough: lifestyle and contacts. wink
Several sim cards neatly laid out beside his mobile phone being investigated...

Such a strange killing.
You'd think a hitman would either make it look like suicide or just outright shoot them.

Stabbed to death (Decapitated?) then put in a sports bag seems very strange.
Then again, I never would have expected hitmen to poison someone with radiation but it happened.

Maybe the russians just really love to be dramatic about their hits?
Radiation would be my first avenue, difficult to track down the exact time of ingestion

Fork then? Or perhaps a cunningly altered spoon, the possibilities are endless

Unbelievably easy to track down source though.
It's like killing someone with a business card..

Stuffing a body into a bag then leaving it a bath at the murder scene is unusual. The body is usually abandoned at the murder scene, concealed at the scene, or removed for disposal elsewhere.

I would normally associate a bag with transporting the body for disposal. Finding a body left in a bag at a disposal site would be normal, but not at the murder scene unless it’s concealed.

This suggests two possibilities. Either someone took the first steps towards moving the body for disposal, but failed to complete the action.

This can happen for a number of reasons, such as being disturbed and fleeing; also the possibility of trying and failing to solve the practical problems like the weight and transport. Moving to the bath may be preparatory to dismemberment, which the killer lacked the ability to carry out. The mind recoils and goes into denial. It is possible the murderer went into denial and failed to return to complete the removal of the body that had been begun by packing the body.

Denial often occurs when the murderer conceals the body poorly upon premises he owns. As long as he controls the site there is little possibility of discovery.

Yet the murderer moves without re-concealing the body and predictably the new occupant discovers the body. This seemingly illogical act is often the product of that psychological denial. It would be relatively easy to relocate or destroy the remains, which may now be reduced to just a skeleton. Yet because the murderer is denying to themselves that the killing took place and the body is concealed they fail to act.

If the murder took place at the site where the body was discovered it suggests poor planning and an inexperienced killer.

Alternatively the murder site was elsewhere and the body was found at the disposal site. This suggests someone who knew the lifestyle of the victim. Apparently they believed it would be some time before discovery if the body were returned to the victim’s home and had no better place accessible.

A third option is that the killers understood the Psychology and acted to mislead, staging a crime scene. That would suggest experience and professional advice which an Intelligence Service would have available.

The victim was staying in London, but had a flat for about 10 years elsewhere. A photo of the inside has appeared on the web. It’s very tidy and perhaps a little effeminate for a single male occupant.
