That is sick. I wouldn't be as calm as the residents seem to be. I'd be demanding actions from the police, if this is all true.
And i'd be taking matters into my own hands if they didn't.
So lets add this scenario. You come home find locks changed and a group of Lithuanians in your house. You kick the back door in then call the cops. The cops turn up, you have one householder, some Lithuanians and a kicked in door. Obviously the illegal occupants broke in and the cops turf out the illegals. Opinions please.

Mr Pope went back to his house on Monday morning to find all his belongings had been thrown out.

‘I had been out for just two-and-a-half days. Someone must have been watching me,’ he said. ‘The rear door had been levered out with screwdrivers – that’s how they got in.

‘My neighbours are now too frightened to go out anywhere in case the same happens to them,’ he added.
Criminal damage , breaking and entering, civil matter my a55!

people seem to assume the squatters are victims of a scam?
so put yourself in their place, you contact a letting agent,he lets you into a fully furnished house/flat,there you find milk in the fridge, clothes in the wardrobe and washing up in the sink, would you not think that strange? and why would you decide that the personal possessions you found there were rubbish and belonged in the front garden?
if you had been "scammed" would you not still have the contact details of the letting agent and get hold of them?.
they are chancers who know how to work the system and exploit the laws of this country, try doing that in their home town!

Yeah but an honest person when finding out they had been scammed wouldn't continue to live in anothers house and threaten people with knives.

I remember an empty house we were working on some 20+ years ago. Went there Monday morning, squatters signs put up etc.. I just went and ralleid a team of friends, kicked the door in and they scarpered like rats from a sinking ship.
Took less than an hour.
