Interesting commentary here:
http://www.openrightsgroup.org/blog/2010/1010s-boo...

Suggests that the whole thing might be a "false flag" campaign.

We are all talking about it, after all...
If so, it highlights the short-sightedness of these morons brighter still; every comment posted on the topic (and I'm sure there are/will be millions on various boards) will remain on a web server, running 24/7, for years if not decades to come. Servers which consume power, required manufacturing, require maintaining and which shall ultimately be replaced by a string of others. Thats not to mention the energy expenditure in planning and producing the thing, distribution (albeit briefly!) and subsequent reporting on it.

I care not, because to me its growth and growth is a good thing. Its just ironic that to promote their regressive 'ideal', they require and perpetuate growth of systems which are consuming energy (thus producing carbon) at an ever increasing rate.

I wonder if they can apply the same shonky statistical methods they used for the 300k death figure to work out how many people this video gaff has and will kill?!

omg. wtf. etc

but getting celebrities involves a bit of effort. what is amazing like others have said is how many meetings, reviews, outtakes, hours filming, make-up, editing etc no-one thought 'do you what? maybe this isn't that funny'

reminds me of:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZgg7o91EWU

but frighteningly that was a joke from the beginning - the greens actually thought this had a real message!

wow.

I thought one of the most revealing comments in her Guardian interview posted earlier (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=314UCvMmgrU) an throwaway apparently unimportant remark that sums up these peoples atitudes to us all, came at around the 3 minute mark.

"...and the whole individualistic, get in your little car on your own and sit in a traffic jam for two hours and then go to a pointless job...."

They honestly believe we are something unpleasant they've stepped in don't they........

They've actually made Osama Bin Laden seem rational. That's rather special.

Yes, because we all do that out of choice don't we?

I'd love not to work, and I imagine most people in two hour traffic jams would use an alternative it was viable.

Most of those sort of pointless jobs are advertised regularly in The Guardian.

Her argument doesn't apply to me then – I use a big car for a short commute to a job I rather enjoy.

Interesting interview with 10:10's lead nut-job Franny Armstrong:

Funnily enough, her carbon footprint doesn't matter because she's promoting her cause... rolleyes
"I've been a vegetarian since I was 11, I've never had a car, I live in a very cold house, I hate shopping so I never buy anything..."

translation; "i'm a sad, miserable therefore you should all be sad, miserable s too."

BUT

"...until I made this blockbuster movie and I'm now flying quite a lot to promote it, I've just been to australia last week and I'm going to america next week"

translation: I actually quite like the high flying capitalist life but that doesn't mean YOU can enoy it

Boris has a lot to answer for after helping the stupid bint:

On 2 November 2009, Armstrong was threatened in the streets of north London by three girls whom she described as looking "like something straight out of central casting". They pushed her against a car and pulled out an iron bar. She cried for help and was rescued by Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, who was cycling by. He chased off the attackers and then insisted on escorting Armstrong home. During this 20-minute journey, she suggested that he adopt the 10:10 policy for the tube and that he pedestrianise Camden Town. He replied that he wanted to pedestrianise areas across London.[8]
She thanked him with a 10:10 badge and a copy of Age of Stupid. When interviewed afterwards, she praised him as her "knight on a shining bicycle". Politically, she still preferred his predecessor Ken Livingstone, for whom she had campaigned but allowed that "If you find yourself down a dark alleyway and in trouble I think Boris would be of more use than Ken".

A 10% reduction wasn't too hard and nothing to do with stupid hippies, just common sense.

Apart from the little detail I've probably dropped mine by about 50% (mileage from 25K to about 8K, the new boiler uses less than half the fuel combined with improved insulation and double glazing) so I've got to get a V8 or V12 to make up my missing 40% or possibly drive moresmile Any suggestions?

Of course if my circumstances change my emissions might rocket again.

I thought I'd join in, so reported a few of the comments on grounds that they're not based on fact. Wonder if they'll pull any of them!
