Assuming the judge decides the prosecution case is not credible, does he get a big payout?
Perhaps he gets hs 15 thousand Rand back?
smile

I expect he will want a lot more than that - this must cost him a £1m+ already.

Was there ever good enough evidence to bring him to trial? Or convenience for South Africa - bodes badly.

Dewani case likely to be thrown out.

Looks like Dewani will be home for Christmas. Odd to hear the judge in a case summarising the evidence before the defence makes a case. SA justice is odd.
Happens all the time, even in the good old UK. How else do you think many cases get thrown out at half time, "no case to answer"?

The prosecution has made its case. The defence have said why they think it shouldn't go ahead.

Yes I'm sure it does. My point was that it was odd to hear it - as the case was being shown on the tele.

I guess if the state can't put forward any evidence then there is no need for the defence to say anything ..

I bet he's out on the town enjoying his new found lack of depression before you can say 'rent boy'.

Oh, he'll have made a full recovery before he steps off the plane. I doubt this will be the last we hear of this guy.

But the point is that it is not odd, it happens all the time, whether televised or not, it's a normal procedure. The RSA is no different to other supposedly civilised justice systems.

(Except it doe seem the best place to kill someone, if you want to get away with it.........)

I'd be surprised if they hadn't arranged his taxi to be hijacked on the way to the airport by a bunch of criminals with bad memories....seems the way to go should you wish to kill someone.

I see a film and book deal coming over the horizon and I wonder how long the acute stress disorder and PTSD lasts before he is found bent over in some public karzi playing the pink piccolo!

I think a series is where he should be aiming, Quantum Murder She Wrote. Starring Russell Brand as a cross dressing manic depressive who suppresses his inner gay to marry wealthy heiresses and track down their future murderers. Co-starring Dean Stockwell as 'Al', a mysterious guy who turns up every episode with what looks to be a parking ticket machine giving the odds of the murder happening and of Brand's conviction if it does.
