You've seen

'Millenium Bug'
'Bird flu'
'Global Warming'
'Terrorism'

Now get ready for GIANT SPACE STORM - coming soon, and - this time - it's for real.

As soon as I see the words "could" and "might" in a news report I immediately stop reading.

Is it bad that I'm more worried about what kind of tax we will get imposed upon us?

agree, but the best one to stop you reading is 'experts believe'.

Can you not just put them inside your microwave? I believe the bit where you put your food is actually a Faraday cage and it should protect whatever is inside form any large electromagnetic field.

I could be wrong though...

You could easily knock up a Faraday cage using some fine steel mesh and a wooden frame, wouldn't take too long.

Does that mean the only survivors will be chickens in hen houses?

100,000 square feet of mesh and a couple of tons of timber. Job done. Won't you have to do the bit underneath too though?

Just tell them you're building a shed.

"Dr Fisher, 69, said the storm, which will cause the Sun to reach temperatures of more than 10,000 F (5500C), occurred only a few times over a person’s life. "

Umm I do believe that the sun is pretty much like that normally!

I bet this happens just after I get a remap!

If you want to read a good book about potential ways life could be wiped out by various space things (solar flares, black holes, asteroids etc.) get hold of a copy of
'Death from the Skies!: The Science Behind the End of the World' by Dr Phill Plait also known as The Bad Astronomer and his web site Bad Astronomy
