For the record I do not in any way wish for any harm to befall Mr Monbiot or the Toynbee woman.

In the future i will make sure that any random thoughts i post on the internet are not unsavoury in any way, as the last thing i want is to cause offence.

Now, now, now. This just isn't fair!

One small mistake is just weather.

We need several years data before we can claim that it is climate.

Oooops!

Don't worry George. You aren't a moron. Really.

Honestly. Just because you cannot provide any evidence to back up your ridiculuous assertions, it doesn't mean that you are wrong.

Several people have suggested that you are too cowardly to join us in debate. I don't believe this for a second. A person of your strong principles will obviously take the battle to wherever it needs to be fought.

You'd think the fool would have realised, after all these years, you can't rely on "experts" and "scientists" to give you a platform of credibility.

They simply expose you as a gullible fool.

Wake up, George...

George is always complaining...

It's his raison d'être...

You know, my first writings on this issue when I made my first post on this thread back a few pages were, shall we say, more "strident" than those that were left when I clicked the "submit" button.

My original musings were edited after I thought: "I wonder if the bugger monitors Pistonheads?" hehe

Trouble is guys, he does have a point here.

Yes we do disagree with him, but even I felt that posters resorted to the "death to the disbelievers" line just a bit quickly. I know it's done in jest, but it can be taken the wrong way. Whatever your feelings are for the man, it's probably not the nicest thing to find people jesting about doing you harm on a public forum.

So lets view this as a shot across the bows and that it is probably is time to tone some of the comments down. Maybe it's time to get back to debating properly.

I notice that Monbiot lacks the balls to bring the debate to us on the climate change thread. My guess is that he knows he'll lose, especially as he can't censor comments there like they do on the Grauniad website.

Comment is free? Only if you agree, otherwise you'll be deleted. I almost can't describe how much I despise that sanctimonious prick and his ilk.

Come on Monbiot you coward, join the climate change thread and defend your position. No? What a spineless cretin you are.

It was Monbiot and his ilk's attitude to this Climate Change that got me interested in the first place. Their determination to stop any outside access or critique of their methods and data just didn't seem right.

If one has nothing to hide, one needn't go to extraodinary lengths to hide it.

We already had our shot across the bows several years ago by some harridan who shall remain nameless, she pulled the same stunt so George isn't even being original in this pathetic publicity attempt. She made herself look stupid too.

I'm sorry, I couldn't disagree more, it's all part of the irreverant comedy that makes PH what it is. Anyone who can't tell the jest from the serious needs their head looking at. I'll bet you a considerable sum that Moonbat despises Frankie Boyle.

But outside people don't understand the "irreverent comedy that makes PH what it is". The description of the threats is a little over the top. I'm all for "nuking from orbit", the endless OXO comments, but this thread was a little close to the mark this time.

And yes, if MB despises Frankie Boyle I'd have to agree on that one as well. Boyle is an appropriate meaning if spelt incorrectly.

The other problem with the "irreverent comedy" is that outside people can take a moral high ground, because they aren't in on the joke. No matter what the rest of PH says, it will get tarred with that brush of "intolerance" as people are easily offended. Hell, people on PH still hold the Crusades against Christianity!

Again I'm going to have to pull you up I'm afraid chap. The verbosity of the Glock comment was pure comedy in my eyes. When I showed this all to my mrs she laughed out loud at the PH quotes in the Moonbat column.

I don't write what I write on here for the benefit of 'outsiders' or indeed with any thought to the consequences. All of it is banter and hopefully can be seen as such. I couldn't give a monkeys who is in on the joke. The judge in the airport twitter case might may have a different view, however... wink

Problem is that you are writing on a public forum.....

Regardless of humour, there has to be a line drawn, and that line has to be personal threats, whether said as humour or not. It demeans the argument, it demeans PH, and it's not really cricket at the end of the day.
