A "handful" of asylum applications has been made by Libyan soldiers being trained at a Cambridgeshire army base, the BBC understands.

The number to have applied for asylum is around five, according to Special Correspondent Lucy Manning.

It comes after 300 soldiers had training cut short at Bassingbourn Barracks after allegations recruits carried out sex attacks in Cambridge

"Mr Lansley has called on the ministry to "account for the consequences of their programme and their failure to maintain security".

The MoD was "very conscious" people had suffered as a consequence of cadets "committing criminal offences off the base", the MP said.

"It's their responsibility to account for that," he added."

Was it the MOD who made the decision to import these people? Andrew Lansley is the perfect example of everything wrong with politics, I know, from personal experience he holds his electorate in utter contempt and he spreads blame for his failings like a fat bird spreads butters on toast

Libyan soldiers here for training went around assaulting women.
It wasn't just women - 2 of them have been charged with raping a young man in a Cambridge park.

From a glass half full perspective, it shows that it's not just Brits that can misbehave while abroad.

And I have just seen one of them on the BBC ten o clock news, complaining, "It's all Britain's fault! They didn't look after us properly. They didn't teach us right from wrong."

Two-faced lying BcensoredD. Good riddance to you!

"They didn't tell us about British law and what's the difference between right and wrong here."

Asked if the cadets had a message for the British government he said: "Not to take things too seriously".

Being serious for a second, I would imagine so, yes. It does seem to be a trend with them these days.

There is no 'these days' about it. It isn't just Islam, sexual repression is a tool of Christianity too, why do you think the choir boys aren't safe? Is it a Jewish thing too (genuine question, is it Abrahamic or more general)?

ISIS behead 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians in Libya.

Not for being spies or enemy combatants, just for being Christians.

The 2011 France/US led mission to "save the people" turned out really well.

In all my time on earth and following the news, I have never known a group as evil as ISIS.

I think we have let this one out of pandoras box and there is no stopping them now. ISIS is a hydra headed monster!

Interesting.

There are many evil groups but at least most groups could claim to have a reason for carrying out evil acts. Not that it made it right but you could get your head round why they are doing it.

ISIS and Boko Haram have no grieviances and no demands. They just kill for the fun of it. They are heartless evil bds.

I am normally anti-war/foreign intervention but I support 100% any action to go in and level ISIS.
