Yes very cunning. So cunning in fact that syria is shortly to become a part of turkey.

Far beyond the capability of my German (just forwarded them to a friend for verification), but apparently these two reports on German TV suggest rebels had taken responsibility for the shelling,

http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/beitrag/video/17456...

Supposed German Report said:
Rockets and Mortar Fire – Turkey exacts vengeance for an attack from the Syrian side which took place yesterday afternoon. For weeks, Ankara has warned for any provocation in direction to Turkey. Until late at night, the fighting has taken place. Meanwhile, Syrian rebels have taken responsibility for this provocation.
http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/beitrag/video/1745802/heute-in-europa-vom-04102012

Apparent Second Report said:
Yesterday night, Turkey took revenge for attacks from REBELS in Syria that have previously attacked a Turkish border village
Also a video showing rebels have obtained Syrian mortars.

EDIT: The two videos above have stopped working for me.. I found one on Youtube and a friend confirmed it implicates Rebels as firing the mortars

How much truth or lie is anyones guess but really I have no reason to disbelieve its the FSA or factions thereof trying to drag turkey into the syrian conflict.

No. Do sell them. But make sure they are defective/not as good as they could be. Because otherwise someone (who doesn't like you), will sell them something that works really well.

The FSA got theirs from Saudi Arabia.

End,

I don't think you'll find white Thobe's in JJB:-)

Anyhow, I wonder if you can explain how the FSA got hold of the artillery shells used against Turkey:

your link doesn't work.....besides, the report I read on AJ stated that it was the Syrian Army that lobbed them over the fence

It was quite easy to sort out....

http://english.sabah.com.tr/national/2012/10/05/f4...

What I can't find is any info on whether the artillery system used by the Turkish can employ laser guided rounds - as suggested by the news article ("The targets were designated by laser pointers in F-4s...").

I think that there could be a bit of spin in the article - seems more likely that the F-4s were used for target recon and passing of more accurate coordinates back to the artillery (considering someone has proof of the artillery actually firing rounds). In fact, it sounds like the whole operation was a bit of a PR exercise considering that this could have been done with PGMs from the aircraft already over the top of the targets. Unless the TuAF want to save their PGM stocks.

I was being sarcastic in my comment re the firing of the mortars into Turkey.

I in fact read it the same as yourself and that while the Turkish military may have ground radar able to determine a reverse trajectory of any incoming mortar rounds this was what looks like backed up with reconnaissance data.

You will find that if you stick around long enough that few if any of the active posters in this thread believe that the majority of the opposition forces are made up of Syrians.

I am sincerely hoping that one or two may admit they were wrong now that even Syrian Kurds and especially Alawites have taken up arms against the Assad regime, many joining forces with the Syrian opposition fighters.

Like it or not this is what is happening.

I sincerely hope that Assad falls before Turkey gets involved in 'another Vietnam'.

Just my 2p, your mileage may vary.

My knowledge of Assad is limited but I don't believe he was another Gaddafi or Hussein but that he and his people have become another victim of the 'Arab Spring'
There may have been an initial protest but it has rapidly been commandeered by other agencies such as AQ or the MB funded by Saudi and Iran

Iran Shia, Iraq dominance now, Syria/Lebanon Shia supported. Sunni Saudi's not happy.

I wonder what the position would have been if Saddam was still the strong anchor in secular Iraq.

More noise from Turkey

http://www.haaretz.com/news/middle-east/turkey-war...

I suppose Turkey & the allies will ensure the safety of the Alawites & Christians once Assad is forcibly removed by the Sunnis.

Wonder how the Kurds are managing?

BBC reporting that a Turkish fighter jet forced a Syrian passenger jet travelling from Moscow to Damascus to land overnight. They were concerned about arms smuggling through their air space. The Syrians have accused Turkey of piracy. The jet was allowed on its way after being searched.

I wonder what the Russians make of it?
