Meanwhile, In Syria
Discussion
Phil, are you really still in denial of reality?
Two dozen guys having a sing song (about who knows what) negates the fact that western backed extremists are well on the way to forming an Islamic caliphate spanning international borders and crucifying and beheading other Muslim sects, Jews, Christians and anyone else who doesn't fit into their niche?

As well as RT I watch and read other media outlets.
Today on the wire; ISIS is FINALLY being differentiated from Syrian rebels which IMO helps Syrian Revolution; but AQ and FSA are still integrated under the concept of "rebels", which is still a major obstacle to gaining greater support from the American PEOPLE and the US government (Obama cannot act entirely alone and needs approval of Congress ... a legacy of Bush2 and Bliar).

FSA is basically non-existant today, they've been hammered by army, ISIS, Al-Nusra...there are now more FSA members in Turkey than in Syria....As well as RT I watch and read other media outlets.

Not forgetting those that have actually changed sides to the not so moderate opposition groups who have not shortage of weapons.
I'd be interested in your thoughts as to whether Syria would of got into this mess if 'any' of the western powers had gone in early?
Also, I wonder is Assad has ever thought it just may of been better to not come down so hard on the students and their parents in Deraa who painted the graffiti on the school walls that kicked all this off in the first place.
Maybe five whips of the cane would of sufficed.

it didn't have sod all to do with Assad and his actions, it was just an attempt of coup funded by Qatar and Saudis mainly, the same thing succeeded in Lybia(which is now a total anarchy btw) but not in Syria for various reasons
Syria was (and still is) a much more free and democratic place than, say, those two countries

ISIS and the FSA/IF are not only on opposite sides but have different agendas.
Both have versions of TOW's/ATGM's.
One side stole them (or maybe they were left out for them to collect)
The other side were authorised them.
Some are Russian made while other more modern units are US made, the latter having the benefit of laser and or heat-seeking capabilities.
Phil
They are using Chinese HJ-8's for the most part I believe. Both have versions of TOW's/ATGM's.

Quite a formidable ATGM despite being dated.

The Chinese ATGM's look similar but have a slightly higher profile as compared to the Russian made Konkurs.
I think you will find many more of the Russian units have found their way into opposition hands due to the fact of Syria being one of the biggest, if not the biggest customer of Russian military hardware.
You can see one of the Russian units in this video:

Bit of a waste on a brick wall but hey ho.

The Turks are a strange bunch.
They have just today 'de-listed' Jabhat al-Nusra from their own list of terrorist groups:
