Tunisia just won the 2015 Nobel prize: http://www.nobelprize.org/

Did not see a mention of this on RT, or here on PH for that matter so thought I'd help our well balanced reporting just a shade.

Read why they received this award.

I am assuming this excludes the British tourists shot dead by a Tunisian Islamist fundamentalist trained by the moderate Islamic fundamentalists, the US and UK provided air support for in Libya.

If barrack Obama can get the Prize after 6 weeks in office, Putin has got a shot at it. biggrin

Express is reporting a Russian jet shot down by Turkey. Doesn't sound too clever.
Now why would Turkey do that ?? Warning yes, diplomatic hand wringing yes - but shoot the plane down, seems excessive (when the plane in question is actually fighting your supposed enemy).

By all accounts the Russians are beating the crap out of ISIS (according to a local man in the know with no affiliation to Russia or Assad).

Sometimes my simple mind doesn't understand the complexities of war... I thought it was clear cut that ISIS are evil ####%%#%%% that need a massive spanking down - it might hurt our pride in the West but Russia seems to be doing it for us.

Not confirmed but if true, Russia have been warned repeatedly. Russia has no issue shooting down planes does it. I would be surprised if true but who cares. It's war

Seems government forces have taken back Al-Basha,Hama Governorate which was under western backed forces control such as free syrian army and it appears a number of residents had been killed long before the battle, one man had his hands tied behind him and a bullet wound to the back of the head

The west were desperate for Russia to stop its airstrikes in this area and allow government forces to recapture places under 'moderate' rebel control, i wonder why...

They were moderate Islamic fundamentalist terrorists, they are the good
good guys. We should be giving them TOW missiles, Manpads, air support and maybe a little instruction on how to chop off heads.

I see our global terrorist supporting friends in Riyadh are unhappy at Russia's entry into this war and are threatening to deliver surface-to-air missiles to the Jihadis in Syria - all whilst the Saudi Air Force continues to bomb factories and wedding parties in Yemen. And of course Obama and Call Me Dave couldn't give a st about Saudi war crimes and dead civilians in Yemen.

The UK and US supplying terrorist groups in Syria with vehicles and equipment, including the not so moderate ISIS. What a surprise.

I alluded to this in a previous comment. Not a surprise at all. This massive cockup (and I mean all of it since the illegal invasion of Afgahn.) is probably the biggest FP disaster since Vietnam.

Disgusting that the likes of IS are now benefiting from our 'generosity', but I suppose the initial intention was to support the rights of those being brutally oppressed in Syria that wanted free elections, with Assad being ultimately deposed and the Syrians living happily ever after in a democratic society. Ahh, ain't that nice.

Trouble is, as we've proven beyond reasonable doubt on three previous occasions - it doesn't work like that in those parts, EVER.

Depending how you measure your foreign policy cock ups I think you could make a case for it being bigger than Vietnam which was ultimately fairly contained and local, with pretty limited repercussions once they pulled out. This will keep running for decades to come, and it's hard to see any resolution.

It is either naivety, planned, or gross negligence. I suspect it is a combination of all three. The success of the Iraqi, Libyan and Afghan Military interventions should be sending a clear message, but either that message is not getting through or wilfully being ignored. The wholesale propaganda being pushed out in justification would make Goebbels or Molotov proud.

ISIS administrative documents translated

http://www.aymennjawad.org/2015/01/archive-of-isla...

they have interesting rules for table football

Islamic State
Al-Buhuth wa al-Eftaa' Committee
Fatwa no.: 50
Date: 6/3/1436 AH

Question: What is the ruling on playing table football?

Answer: It is permitted to play table football on these conditions:

1. It should be devoid of gambling and included in that definition is having the loser pay to hire the game. The Almighty has said: "Oh you who believe, indeed wine, al-Maysar, stone altars and divination by arrows [an Arab pre-Islamic practice] are filth of Satan's handiwork. Avoid them that you may have success"- al-Ma'ida 90 [Qur'an 5:90]. Ibn Abbas and Ibn Omar- may God be pleased with them both- said: 'Al-Maysar is gambling.' [Tafsir Ibn Katheer- 3/178].

2. That it should be devoid of statues and portraits in accordance with the strong prohibition against that. And that means that the head is cut off from the original part of the game [i.e. the head is cut off from the figurines so they don't look like statues].

3. In it there should not be blasphemy, cursing, scorn, resentment, hatred, according to what Bukhari narrated from a hadith of Ibn Mas'ud from the Prophet [PBUH]. He said: "Vituperating the Muslim, committing injustice against him or fighting him is disbelief."

4. That it should not be a barrier to obligatory mention of God's name, or any obligatory act of obedience, and when you have become distracted from what is obligatory externally or internally, it is forbidden by the agreement of the 'ulama, just as the Sheikh of Islam [Ibn Taymiyya] affirmed in the exposition of his discussion on chess and this discussion also applies to table football and whatever else corrupts the two from among contemporary games.

We warn as we warned in the ruling on playing billiards about the dimension of these matters that do not render the Muslim benefit, especially the mujahid in the path of God and what is in these things regarding wasting time and harshness of the heart. And God knows best. God bless our Prophet Muhammad and all his family and companions.

they just have to cut heads don't they
