Meanwhile, In Syria

This is not the first time in recent months that Russia has tested the response time of the TAF.
They were warned ten times this time round before having their return ticket cancelled.
Putin's not the only one who can flex political muscles and I'm no fan of pasha Erdogan.
Those pilots knew exactly what they were doing as they do when testing UK defenses over the north Atlantic.

Did those pilots know Turkish airspace starts 5 km into Syrian territory? They were warned ten times this time round before having their return ticket cancelled.

This wouldn't really be too much of an issue if Turkey weren't a NATO member, and I suspect, that they are only feeling 'brave enough' to do this because they are a NATO member.
I think many people have felt for years that Turkey could potentially end up being a 'rogue' member when push comes to shove.......
Interesting times ahead in that respect......

Chechen government in exile warns G20 leaders of possible Russian-jihadist collaboration;

Putin has zero idea what the definition of a hornets nest is.
He had the option of working with the west in helping to eliminate IS but decided the more moderate Syrian opposition suited his political ambitions better - wrong.

Nice thing about Turkey shooting down a Russia fighter jet: Russian pilots now know their planes are defenseless against #NATO missiles.Steve

US is attacking IS oil revenues. They've just announced they destroyed 280 oil tankers in ONE raid.
Let's see which nations are stupid enough to declare they have a fuel shortage in the coming months.
Only now? they have only been bombing in Syria for almost 2 years ! Perhaps Erdogen and son needed the money or they could not find the 10 kilometer long oil tanker convoys on satellite. Sounds legit.Let's see which nations are stupid enough to declare they have a fuel shortage in the coming months.

Uh... wasnt it the West who wanted to support the moderate Syrian opposition in the honeymoon of the Arab Spring while Russia was supporting the heavy handed Syrian government. http://euromaidanpress.com/2015/11/24/chechen-gove...

Why are you getting all worked up Quantum.
Not working out how you expected?

Nope, but poor decisions and itchy trigger fingers have a tendency to start wars. It is certainly not working out for the moderates, sorry Al Qaeda and co.Not working out how you expected?

Correct, and nothings changed, not even an ex-Russian airliner downed in Egypt bar the last weeks token gesture hits against IS by Putin. He is still hitting areas across Syria where only more moderate opposition forces are located.Everyone is saying this both the west and the moderate opposition groups.

Sometimes when I read the news, the events come as no surprise - and downing of Russian plane was a case of when and not if. But I really don't think we ever get to know what happens just below the surface of what is called international 'politics'. I can't help but wonder that the real reason the rest of the world is now become more focused on the Syrian cohort is little to do with atrocities and more to do with the fact that the fundamentalists will not and seemingly never will play ball with the west and/or Russia or anyone else.
France seem to have a different agenda to everyone else now - this has become a very personal war for them, whereas for the UK, Russia, the US, to me it still seems to be politics with a slightly harder rhetoric than heard over the last few twenty years or so.
As for the downed Russian pilot. If he's paraded around before being decapitated or burned in a cage, then the very likely to be enraged folks in mother Russia will insist upon a much more active Russian response.
Who knows where this is heading and just for a moment there I did wonder to myself if the fundamentalists planned this or even realise they have bitten into the flesh of something that turned on them in a way they were not expecting.
