There is a leaked tape of John Kerry in Syria speaking about the fact that the Obama allowed and wanted ISIS to grow in order to use them against Assad.

Precisely what some of us said here well over a year ago.

Cynical and disgusting.
It was me, that's exactly what I said! I can't quite actually believe it came true biggrin
Yes, me too. Signs were there. The politics of the pipeline in the background, the US weapons drops to ISIL fighters, the impossibly rapid progress in such short time, the oil trucks lined up at the Turkish border, the no-fly nonsense, claim that they were backing "moderates," and on and on.

Supporting Al-Quaida/ISIL. As I have said before, the dead 9/11 victims must be rolling in their graves.

I wonder where all these weapons could have possibly come from ? Nothing like precision guided "hell canons" used in a urban setting.

I'd be interested in what the learned PH crew make of this.

Looks like a pretty solid opinion piece on the Trump situation to me.

From Peter Hitchens blog

"While I never liked the politics of President Barack Obama, and warned from the start that he was overrated, I had some respect for him as an intelligent and thoughtful person.

His final weeks – in which he seems to have decided to spite his successor with petty, self-indulgent and damaging actions against Israel and Russia – have put paid to that."

I am more than a little inclined to agree.

I disagree. What i took from that is that the US were hoping Daesh would help overthrow Assad and that the US and the "moderates" would then step in and control the situation and put a new moderate government in place.

Extremely naive but from what I heard they had their hearts in the right place but method in the wrong place.

I also feel they were being played by those in the meeting though as the people in the meeting were simply constantly pushing for more weapons and for the US to bomb and attack the Assad regime. Kerry validly pointed out the more weapons that go in the longer the fighting will go on yet they didnt want to hear it.

I agree with that sentiment, his actions in the twilight of his term, has a real petulant, malicious nature to them, not the actions you would expect of a Nobel peace prize winner.

Currently reading 'The Trial of Henry Kissinger' by Peter's brother Christopher Hitchens.
Kissinger was another Nobel Peace Prize winner though it resulted in "two members of the committee resigning in protest".
God knows Kissinger was anything but peaceful, unless you include funding kidnapping and assassination, and genocide as acceptable methods of achieving peace.

It seems that they may have again awarded one in error, or in this case perhaps, too soon.

The War-Crimes Lawyer Hunting Syrian War Criminals

In 2012, David Crane helped put notorious Liberian dictator Charles Taylor behind bars. Now he's turned his attention to Syria and is overseeing a project to assemble a massive database of President Bashar Assad's war crimes.

When they add Obama/America to the list to be investigated, then they will have true credibility.

Though to be fair to Crane, the article says;
"Crane is most ashamed of the fact that his country hasn't signed onto the Statute of the International Criminal Court and quotes former US President George W. Bush, who once said that if just one US soldier had to answer before the court, he would march into the Netherlands."

Considering Qatar is one of the biggest sponsors of Jihadi extremists, it's a good indication of just how screwed this whole region is.
