Registered the other day to obtain my free credit report/ score from Experian on a 30 day no obligation trial.

I cannot work out how to cancel my membership.

Does anyone know how to?

Next thing that happens is £6 a month starts getting stolen from your bank account/credit card. Phone them and tell them you'll give them one chance to immediately cease their scam or you'll be involving the police.

Somewhere buried deep in the cancellation pages is an email address for customer services. You start there. It can be done, but by God they don't make it easy.

I think I did it in writing. You may need to phone them for an address. Then again it may have been equifax who got £15 out of me before I remembered to cancel furious

I rang them to cancel, and then cancelled the DD they had set up.

Err, how is this a scam?

Nothing is being stolen as you are buying a service from them, something you have signed up for and, they are open about their mothly charges.

OP, as mentioned, just phone them up and request a cancellation, like all companies they'll try to keep you, but just maintain you want to cancel and they will. Oh, and the police wont be interested in this.

Obliged much for your responses.

There was indeed an email address to customer services, which is not easy to find, but after that you receive an automated response with a freephone number to ring to cancel.

All done, just waiting for written confirmation of cancellation- and hope that they don't raid my bank account for their monthly fee.

Re-opened my account last night to gain a credit report for a Mortgage application I'm currently going through, and was offered the 30 day free trial, though when cancelling 12 hours later I was refunded £14.99 - (£4.99 + £0.33) = £9.66;

Use http://www.noddle.co.uk/

For a free credit report, with some limitations.

Bit of a thread resurrection, but I have been trying for three months to cancel my membership, but again, this month, they have charged me. I am f***ing livid.
Made a comment on Facebook and at least three friends have said they gave up trying and just take the hit every month.

It's a debit card payment, which is set up to be taken every month.
Other people are saying that the only way they managed to cancel it was to change their debit card. I'm beginning to think that this is my only option.

It would seem that social media shaming works.
Just had a comment back from them on my Facebook post, along with a name and an email address to contact.
Will report back.

I can't see what the problem is. Main page, Contact Us down the bottom. Email or freeephone, cancel DD at bank

It's not a direct debit. It's a recurring card payment.
I've cancelled it twice on line, and also had several telephone conversations where it has been confirmed that no more charges will be taken.
But still, they bill.

In which case you inform the bank not to allow this payment

It's fine. My Facebook post and Tweet yesterday seems to have shamed them into action and the money they have taken incorrectly, will be back in my account within 5 working days.
They gave me a specific email address to contact, if anyone wants it, feel free to mail me.
