In other words, when do you stop investing for growth and start an income strategy?
When the size of the pile going up meets the size of the life going down. It's a strange feeling.

Given that 'ignorance is bliss', you must be very content!

Anyone that's cheated or stolen anything should be dealt with appropriately. To make generalisations about 'the financial industry' (when it's only the advisors that have done any mis-selling, and even then only a small proportion of those advisors) just shows that you haven't a clue.

The compensation culture is one very good example.

Just because a product hasn't performed as well as expected / anticipated does not mean it was mis-sold. Yet you seem to be happy that people who were NOT mis-sold will likely be able to claim compensation as it will be too difficult or expensive for the provider to prove otherwise.

Are you saying that NO endowments or pensions were mis-sold?

It's a tough one but in the end where do you stop protecting idiots from themselves?

I'm fed up of being savvy and not getting anything, while idiots get compensated for being stupid far more than they technically lost out upon (like PPI refunds)

It makes you sorely tempted to live life like a cretin and bask in the compensation.

What is mis-sold anyway and where is mis-bought? Selling under false pretences - lying - is clearly wrong but surely at some stage you hit the problem that someone buying something should make the effort to understand what it is.

You pay my salary? Really?

That's news to me.

By the way, I highlighted the relevant parts of my response in bold to make it really easy for you to understand. It seems that even this wasn't enough. Maybe ask an grown up to help you...

Typical of people in the financial sector who hide behind words! But where does it say that "I" said "I" paid your wages?
Anyway you should be behind your desk shuffling some poor bds paperwork about so "I" won't keep you from earning your well deserved crust! wink

How typical of someone who already expressed a distinct lack of knowledge and am embarrassing lack of basic comprehension to still be confused.

Suggest you take your ignorant generalisations about the 'financial sector" and leave the adults to talk about financial matters.

"Shuffling paperwork"? Every sentence you post demonstrates an increased lack of understanding!

Hence all the training I'm doing.
What is most important is to understand your capabilities and to act according - something you'd be wise to learn in connection with the "Finance" forum...
