I did the same 12 months ago and am too still considering the Volvo estate.

As for cover we covered the mortgage and income equivalent to roughly half of my salary incase one of us passes away. At the end if the day you can tailor a policy to cover as much or as little as you wish discuss with your other half and an IFA. You can always review the cover in the future if things change ie a big mortgage or another child or two!

I wasn't aware of that incentive 25% instant return to the fund

Actually as the wife doesn't work this might be a smart move too hmm
Welcome to the real world !!! biggrin

Ok, the money is tied up until at least 55 - NOT a bad thing - and you will be taxed on drawings at your marginal rate but, hey, 25% of the fund will NOT be taxed and the Tax Free Allowance by then will probably be £30k pa (all things being equal) smile

Thanks for the replies, have PM'd a couple of you.
Nice chatting yesterday - the downside of being stuck, roof down in the carpark that was the M25 under the Heathrow flightpath meant it was noisy. A day at Odiham and Farnborough means I'm all aeroplane'd out - so what did I watch last night? The Aviator!

I'll get an e-mail out to you either this afternoon or tomorrow morning. smile
