In Toll Bar? Probably. In Bawtry or Bessacarr? Maybe not so much hehe (I nearly crash driving down Bawtry Road whilst I gawp at the houses on the left hand side as you drive towards Bawtry.)

I actually live a couple of miles passed Bawtry towards Retford, the house prices come down a little but the crime ratings are still extremely low, rest for insurance!

Hoping for Fridays lottery win though then I can move to Bawtry wink although the Mrs would prefer Sprotbrough

Interesting thread.

At 18, I was really scared of becoming "independent" as my alcoholic step-father who was a professor(his general knowledge of any subject was simply mind blowing but he was still a proper miserable cu.nt) liked to mentally abuse me for years by saying "You're going to struggle in life if you don't try" and "You're going to fail in life". Hearing that for years, I started to believe it and really panicked after leaving college.

At 19(28 now), my first ever "adult" interview and I got in to the Police putting me in the middle 20's with over time.

I recruit part time which is new this year but for the past 4 years have been working in Private Security.

2012-2013 I earned around 80k with bonuses, plus a free house with bills paid, even food at work was covered as when the client ate at a restaurant, so did I. But I worked over 300 hours every month and it killed me, my personal life was fked and I dumped my lass to save the headaches of never being at home.

Now I work 6 months of the year, on a week on/week off rotation. 6 months of the year in London with the work load and social scene. Then I go home to my lass, 2 kids(hers)and house with sea views in Devon. I couldn't ask for more.

In London, six figure salaries really aren't that hard to come by but obviously the cost of living is ridiculous compared to up north. Middle 20's in London will see the high end of £50k on average going by my friends. My friends in Devon/Somerset and up North earn between £25-35k and live very comfortably.

Life can be so simple and enjoyable with good friends and a loving family around you and a lot of us forget this and get caught up about silly trivial stuff.

One of my best friends is Ciaran Perry, he lives at home and is a cleaner part time. He loves his life, why you ask? Because his hobby is Flat Land BMXing and he was probably in the top 10 around the world for freestyle before his injury stopped him, now he is learning juggling, top lad.

I look after billionaires on a daily basis and they are generally unhappy and are completely out of touch with reality regarding genuine human emotion.
please tell me how these mid 20's are earning on the thick end of 50k p/a in london?

I'm 25 myself...earning 30k...my best mate is 26...earning around 30k...the highest earner in my circle of friends is on circa 40k (he's 27)...all of us in different roles for very different companies in varying sectors...

So tell me, where is this extra £20k a year I should be earning?

Everyone outside of London seems to believe you can just turn up for a job interview in the big smoke and immediately command upwards of 40k. I've worked blooming hard for the past 8 years to get where i am...hopefully in the next 8 years i can double my salary...but it won't be without working my B******* off.

.
Anything finance related 50k is easy. Eg a friend of mine with a 2:2 from Brighton applied to do a bank middle office temp contract work which was about £220 a day. Once he knew what he was doing and knew more products within 2 years (aged 26) he was getting a shade over £2k a week. That's 5 days 7am-6/7/8pm.

If you are a graduate with decent office skills and can present yourself in an interview you don't need to actually have any relevant experience to make 50k. To be honest, if you live in London on a lot less than that an want to have a decent standard of living then you are going to find it tough.

I'm 28, so more into the late 20's, based on the South Coast.

Im in a job where commission is a high part of my overall wage, but salery is around £18k, last year I earnt, 67k, this year, in a much less stressed job, 20 hours a week less, with more benefits, and I'm much happier, I should earn 40k. I think thats fair.

To earn close on 70, I was working 6-7 days a week, minimum of 11 hours a day. And was bloody stressed, and felt like crap most the time

I'm 29 and whilst I live in London, I work outside the M25. My basic salary is in the mid £60k region but I also receive a dividend from my employer, paid quarterly. Lots of my mates earn £100k+ but they work seriously long hours, I work about 33 hours a week on average and I am happy to earn what I do for that amount of time, it isn't all about the pay cheque at the end of the month...

I'd say 25k is a good salary for mid 20s as long as you aren't having to do loads of hours' overtime to obtain it.

With at least 3 years industry experience and a degree 50k gross is pretty much the norm in Central London.

A turning circle or fountain like the one in those links would be awesome. Your own roundabout.

Many construction jobs pay that. Lots and lots of money to be had if you are suitably motivated and land a good job. Central London professionals are currently being offered silly money.

When you're with someone daily, you get to know their real character but your statement is perfectly sensible, I see my client/past clients treat some staff differently depending on the position they hold.

Especially running Security, you get to know them very well indeed and build a strong working relationship, sometimes almost personal. When entrusted with a persons child, they generally treat you very well.

Moving on, I won't get in to the "What is the background required to be a bodyguard", as it's a massive cluster fark.

60-70k with a Mortgage in or around London will quickly eat that up.

Did you bin the police or stay on - I don't quite follow?

Multiple London agencies. I'm slowly but surely going from working in Security to just recruiting for Security Positions but currently now work a week on/week off for someone within a team.

Left the Police ages ago.

Plenty of construction jobs paying £40k+ easily... That's excluding any benefits!
